Do you really need one of these?
For those of you that brought one, do you use it all the time or is it just something that sits in the corner and never gets used? I guess if you had a c-section it would come in very handy and I do like the idea that you can store nappies etc on the shelves below.. But I'm just waying up if we really need one?? For those of you that don't have one, where do you just store nappies etc? I just hate clutter and don't want to buy un-neccesary things when we do start getting the nursery ready. Thanks girls

I dont have one even tho I was offered one. I store my nappies in a nappy sacker that can be hung on the side of the cot, top of the door or a hook on the wall. I have never had one for any of my babies so not sure of how good they are to use etc. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I got a cheap fold away one from trade me for $20 and I am soooo glad that I got it. It is used constantly and for storage since it's not a plastic or wooden one with shelves I've just brought a couple of plastic boxes that connect together (from the warehouse) and put them underneath it on the one low shelf it does have. It saves my back.
However, I wouldn't pay retail for one when there are tons on trademe, it's just a matter of having some patience until one you like pops up. |

| Definitely definitely recommend one. My SIL gave me hers and it's really old and kinda crappy but still usable. I use it every single time I change Sam and even though I have recovered from my c-section, it's still very useful. |

We have a wooden one in the nursery which we use all the time. The plan is to use it as a table when Rohan grows up a bit.
We also have a portacot in the living room which has a clip on change table for the top - it's great for daytime changing and getting him ready for baths - thoroughly recommend them! |

I had one for #1 but I ended up running out of space and putting it away for a while... and then liked not having to go to a set place all the time for changes. So now I just change on the floor. (In the lounge for wet, in the hallway or somewhere out of the way for stinkers!) -------------  |

I had one with Maya and have one again with the gremlins and I wouldn't be without one, it's the perfect height for my back and all the nappies, wipes etc. are in the same place and not lying around the house.
I had a cheaper fold up one with Maya, but decided I wanted a flash one with a bath in in for the gremlins, and IMO, it's not all that! I never used the bath in the stand, I used it on the kitchen bench coz it wasn't the right height for bathing, and it's narrower than the fold up one so I worry about them rolling off (which Mercedes has already done once  ). I use one of the fold up ones at mum and dad's and it seems much more comfortable.------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

We were very spoilt and got given 1. I would not be without even still now. I still change Tyrell on it as it is at a perfect height for my back. |

I have a change table with the bath in. I use the change table all the time but only used the bath for the first month. I found it a bit annoying wheeling the whole thing out and around when I needed to use the bath. What I love the best is the storage. It's handy keeping the nappies, lotions e.t.c all together and having it at arms reach when you are changing bubs. I would definitely recommend getting a change table

I love our change table. It's the perfect height so no sore backs and it has so much storage. It is a wooden one that can be used as storage or a TV trolley etc when Sam outgrows it. It also has a strap for when Samantha gets bigger so she doesn't roll off. I can't imagine what Samantha's room would be like if I didn't have it. Probably have mess everywhere. I have found it especially handy for all my MCN's and cloth wipes.
I just bought some baskets to put on the shelves and stuff all her flannels, bath stuff, lotions etc in them. I would definitley recommend getting one.  ------------- http://lilypie.com">

| We got a wooden chest of drawers from Target Furniture and it has a change table that sits on the top, so when Em gets older, we can remove it and she can use the chest of drawers by itself. Giddy Giraffe does something similar -- I wish I'd seen hers before I got my husband to paint ours himself, which took almost my entire pregnancy! But it is one of the best things we bought for Em, and it gets used ALL THE TIME, for every nappy change at home. I couldn't imagine bending down all the time and wrestling her to stay still on the floor. We used to hang our nappy stacker from the end but lately I've been putting the nappies in a basket nearby as they're easier to grab. |

meh i didnt like my change table, the one i had at home and the one i had at bethany centre, they were both too low and hurt my back to bend.
I changed caitlyn on the floor and kept her nappies in a stacker thingy . If you are gonna get a change table and you want it to be useable after baby no longer needs it , id get a nice one that you can use as a table or something like tashzmum did |

We used ours for all Jacks books and stuff on the bottom and nappies on the top but hardly ever used the actual changing table part of it. We just put it away this week because Jack gets into the nappies so we got 2 nappy stackers.
Just a warning with using the bath, the stuff on the shelves can get wet, I didn't think of that and so heaps of Jacks nice books got ruined

We bought a fold up one from Farmers (on sale for $50 down from $100) and I wouldn't be without it. I folded it up and tucked it behind the cot before Caleb was born and now have it beside the cot. It's great for keeping everything all together. I use it for stripping him down before his bath, nappy changes and dressing him after his bath.
I didn't use one with my daughter. We had a basket with nappies, wipes, creams etc that we moved from room to room and a small change mat out of a nappy bag. We're a bit older now so I appreciate the change table being the right height for nappy changes. |

We have one and I love it. I have always suffered from a bit of a sore back so this has def come in handy. I didnt have one with Hannah and had no problems changing her on the floor. I have always done most changes in the lounge (esp in winter by the fire) and when she was younger we used to have a wooden tea trolley in the lounge with all the nappies etc on it. I didnt have one with HAleigh or this tiem round wiht James. I love the floor.
Taht way I know if I forget something I can safely leave then on the floor without fear of them rolling etc. In Haleighs first week (when she fitted in her bassinete) I used her cot though then switched to a sponge on the floor. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

| Yeah we have a nice one that matches Alyssa's cot and I still use it! I find she doesn't try and roll on it like she does when I change her on the floor. Definitely helps if you have a bad back and can be used as a nice piece of shelf like furniture when she grows too big to fit on it. |

I found it great for number 1, especially to store things in the bottom.
Now with number 2, number 1 takes everything out of the bottom so my storage system can't be there........ 
I tend to change them on the floor anyway - they definitely look nice in the room though

I haven't had any kids yet... but to save $ I plan on using a very large study desk I have. Basically because I have a pretty bad back since I slipped a disc a while ago... but it seems like it would be a good height and I am just going to use a foam pad thingee underneath. The desk is pretty huge, so I can store my nappies etc. on top of it as well as having plenty of room for changing.
If I didn't have something I could use already, though, I think I would definitely get one, just to save my back from bending over 8+ times a day during changing! ------------- Chloe (4 years) and Oliver (3 years). |

we got one that matched the cot for her nursery - and will eventually be storage when the cot converts to a bed too - as will all match.
I wouldnt be without it...I can take her from DH in ensuite and put her straight on change table to dress etc, i put her on it to change her straight from cot, and store all lotions wipes etc right under the top, and then excess nappies, wraps etc on bottom. I just keep reloading it. Downstairs I change her on the floor btu upstairs makes it so much easier on my back - and her drawers etc are all within reach from the change table too. |
