Hi
Does anyone know where I can get hold of a decent quality video of some different types of births?
Me and DH were really disappointed with the 5mins of footage shown at ante natal class.

National Womens used to have some they hired out, I guess they'd be at the new hospital now.

search childbirth on youtube if your game some is very graphic some just follows peoples contractions and how they dealt with them but maybe if you search birthing class vids or something similar it might be more what you are after

The video that was shown at our first ante-natal class put most people of the birth! I agree that it wasn't long enough, all the best in finding a longer one

I was gonna say this too... I was a bit shocked at some of the ones I found (just cos I was thinking, ouch that looks so sore, I have to do that!) but of course kept watching. I think all the ones I saw were homebirths?

I was at bethany when i was pregnant with caitlyn (home for young expecting mums ) and i dont remember seeing a video
There used to be a programme on sky , living channel or something and it was a maternity hospital in america and i swear nearly everyone they said "youve been in labour for one whole hour, i think its time to do a caserean"-only slightly exaggerating ....

Maternity Ward
its an awesome show, i watched it heaps when we decided ttc.
I saw one where a 16 yo girl tried to get up half way throught the labour just started bawling her eyes out "I dont want the baby, i dont want to do this" and tried to start leaving, her mum and midwife just pinned her down!!!!
Then she wouldnt push and baby spent to long in teh birth canal and got a cone head. Sorry totally off topic.
Good show anyway.

Curiosity got to me and I looked on Youtube. Big mistake!!! Watched a couple that were fine and then watched one that was difficult and they did an epiostomy (showed everything!!!) and felt a little green I personally think one was enough to give you confidence. Anymore and you start thinking about it far too much and what can go wrong. Eek epiostomy, *think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts*

Hahaha yeah stick to the water births and home births they tend to be calmer and less detailed definately gave me some confidence - i tend to enjoy watchin medical / csi type programs so the very descriptive hospital births interested me more than calmed me. Each to their own i guess but i certainly wouldnt want to be video'd while giving birth.
