being admitted to hospital this morning......... Have been diagnosed with toxaemia at 31 weeks, so have finished up at work and I am on strict bedrest with the parting thought from the OB that I will be lucky to keep the babies cooking for more than another 4 weeks.

Oh the joy of my day!!!

Well, rant over, how am I going to stop myself from dying of boredom for the next however many weeks?

Anna

Wow, is it freaky to think that you could have twins on your hands at the end of this month? But until then, sticking it out with us could keep you off your feet

I know what you mean though. When I broke my foot and had to keep it up for 2-6 weeks, I was like "and do what with myself???" Sudoku worked a treat for me!

Take care!

oh anna i know how that feels, it is so awful, and the loss of your independance is so frustrating! esp when you see things that need doing, but cant ask someone to do them for you, as they are already doing enough for you etc.

i read a lot of books when i was on bedrest, and watched a lot of movies. sorry, i cant really offer any other advice, i napped a lot too! i hope you manage to get the rest your body needs and can brew those babies a bit longer. in my experience bedrest at home is far nicer to bedrest in a hospital, or sitting beside your baby in the neonatal unit.

spend lots of time online! i tried to convince dh i needed a laptop when i was on bedrest, and he said now.... yet we got a laptop when jordis was 3 months old?????

Anna so know what that is like. I hated bed rest but with Josh I did it as I knew it would mean hospital time and I hated that. I read lots of books and did heaps of puzzles (crosswords, sudoku, wordfind etc). Watching heaps of movies and by the end of it even E channel was getting boring as it was all repeats.

I was going to say, now you can catch up on all those movies that you wanted to see, although you need to have teh tv and dvd/video player handy, or books, or some sort of craft.

I am sorry that you are on bedrest, i can imagine its not the most funniest thing to do in the world,

Keep in touch, hey good excuse to buy a laptop, just to keep in touch with us girls...(((Hugs)))

bummer, good tho that the bubs are still cooking.
bed rest does suck. but at least the kids programs arent dominating the school hols this time. maybe you could join up to fatso or dvd unlimited for a while so you can watch movies and not have to go to the video store. i play civ when i was confined to home for bed rest. had my footstool under the computer.
Take care, and keep those bubs baking.
oh and guess we'll be seeing a bit more of you on here... you can get up to 100 posts and check out the gallery...

Bugger Anna! You just keep those babies cooking in there, I want to visit YOU not you plus tiny twins in a few weeks when I come down!
I was on bedrest from 33 (or 34?) weeks, and it sucked majorly. I was lucky that lots of my friends felt sorry for me so came and visited, and Gandt lent me her DVD player coz ours had packed it and some books to keep me entertained.
Which reminds me, must PM you about a book I have to send you...

Yeah well i'll be crossing everything to make sure that it's just me and the belly still when you get here Emma, it's just tooooooo early for these sprockets to arrive. Their Daddy hasn't finished their room yet, and I need to be around to supervise the progress so everything is in the right place

Have replied to your PM too....

It doesn't......... It's a deal I have made, 3 hours a day till Friday, Obstetrician & Midwife knows and its all done on the laptop on my bosses couch!!!! Lucky the boss is a friend. A small price to pay for my sanity, otherwise it would be constant phone calls all day for the next day or so.

aaahhh, well if its on the couch i spose its not too bad. give you a chance to ease into the complete bed rest then...
take care...bed rest is hard but sometimes we just got to do it.

Look after yourself an those bubs. Try to build up sleep reserves - you will need it! I rate the quiz line up on UK tv - 4.15 is Eggheads, folowed by Weakest link, then tv 2 for family feud!

I got busted when I was *supposed* to be on bedrest driving to pick Maya up from preschool. My midwife rang and was like "I just tried to ring you at home, where are you?" and I was like "ummm..."

I got one of those calls on my cell phone and she could hear the car. I fessed up and she was sweet as she knew I was the only one able to do it (DH had to be at work by 7.30 and Andrew didn't start preschool till 8am).

E channel is good for a laugh as the gossip is the same stuff. I quite like the living channel for the renovation stuff and food TV for great cooking ideas.

You take care and keep those babies cooking I have every fear that this will be me in the next few months and I think that I will go bonkers and I personally believe that there is no such thing as rest when you have a toddler running around to!

Well, I may have escaped once, but not the seconed time. Just had an extremely boring 3 days laid up in hospital, But at least in the maternity ward they treat you like you are human!!!! No TV though, I think I read about 10 mags!!!!! They let me out this afternoon on the proviso that I get my BP checked each day and my admission is revised by the obstetrician at each visit. I feel like a pin cushion though, the amount of blood they took for all the different tests. It was quite scary on Thursday though cos they were talking steroid injections and everything. Aargh, but I feel much better now I am home.

Oh well, I've caught up on all the goss, so I'm off to bed.

Take care everyone

Anna

Keep the rest up at home. I know how boring hospital gets, old magazines - old gossip, the puzzles already done in them, its boring.

Well, I ended up back there again last night, the local duty pharmacy couldn't fill my script for BP Pills, and it started to climb again, so off I trundled back to Maternity........... at least I got a good night sleep - the neighbours were having a party here!!!!

Home again now, armed with enough drugs to tide me over until my normal chemist opens tommorow!
