Putting this here as it doesn't apply specifically to toddlers..

Ella has been getting red patches on her face over the last few days. My immediate thought was excema, but it doesn't feel dry. She just has really red cheeks, she has a slight cold - cold it be related to that? Or allergens in the air, as someone else suggested? I haven't seen anything like this on her before. I put some aqueous cream on it just incase.

No, we've been inside quite a bit.. and it tends to show up when we're inside. It comes and goes.. strange.

Does she have a fever? Krystiana had that on and off recently with a cold, but she also was running a high temp at the same time as the flushing. Her cheeks (when red) were quite hot.

No.. but last night she woke up and cried for half an hour.. I think she had a sore throat, she ended up sleeping in our bed.

Oliver has had a cold and his cheeks have been red too. Hopefully once her sore throat clears up it redness will go away.

we took jake to the doctor with a rash, before his chicken pox showed up properly and they checkec him out. he said that it could've been something called "slapped cheek" which is contagoius but they have bright red cheeks - like they've been slapped hence the name. it's not that is it?

I don't think so Liz, I did think of that..

Talked to a teacher at creche and she said because it only seems quite bad at night, it might be her pillow.. just realised she was given a feather pillow for her birthday so I'll switch it back to her normal one tonight and see what happens.

Hmm..well after looking up the symptoms, sore throat is one of them.. and sneezing/mild cold (we've all been sick, so I figured she'd just got another cold).

Well if it is that, there isn't much you can do but wait it out.. and it said it's not contagious once the rash appears.
