Hi All
I have somehow gotten really really sore nipples again. Im not sure if thrush or just that Blake has teeth now. I am thinking I am possibly over it..

Have stopped his lunch feed so now having water then and only morning and night feeds. At night he is bouncing around making sounds using my boob as his instrument so not really too sure how much "nutrition" or value he getting anyway at that one.

My problem is he cant have Normal milk or formula and have tried him on the formula I use in his cereal//wont drink it. Can he just have juice or water now or does her need milk..I am not sure ..need bit of advice?

Ie...If I possibly made him up 300mls a day of the formula milk we use and made custards and used in his cereal only instead of him drinking it..would that be enough per day???

Sorry this was rather onlg winded!

He needs to be having around 600ml of milk/formula per day, but if you can get that into his food then he can just have water/juice as drinks.
Have you tried some of the tips for getting kids to take Pepti from a bottle, things like adding vanilla essence or golden syrup to it to make it more palatable then gradually reducing the amount you add till he is on straight formula.

I would be inclined to try him on 300ml and see how he does. When I weaned Hannah at 11 1/2 mos she wasn't all that interested in milk and seemed to only have about 200ml for breakfast and no more than that. Can he have cheese? If I were you I'd talk to the person who said he can't have regular milk and see what they suggest for his long-term diet.

If he's just mucking around on the boob it is probably the cause of your soreness. Unless you're like me and have conceived the next baby with an 11mo

Yep, 600ml, drops to around 500ml at 12 months. Which sounds like a lot, but it also includes other 'milk' sources like cheese and yoghurt, so it's not such a big deal for 'normal' kids, but for kids on milk-free diets it'a bit of a mission.
I'd suggest asking your GP/specialist for a referral to a dietician, we saw the Public Health dieticians with Maya and they were great, they evealuated her daily intake of all foods and worked out what areas she needed supplements in. We ended up supplementing her calcium with calcium powder.
You could also try rice milk. It doesn't have enough protein/calcium to use as a sole source of nutrition, but you could use it to make custards etc.

when xanthe selfweaned from me at 11 months, i decided it wasnt worth introducing formula at that stage, so just started her on cows milk. she has no allergies and is not at risk of any so i was fine with that. she didnt like the milk to start with so i added drops of vanilla essence like emma suggested, and it worked a treat. i gradually added less and less until she didnt even notice when it wasnt in there anymore.
perhaps you could try that with the formula blake is able to have?

Oooh, or you could try smoothies with banana, or adding some Cadbury drinking chocolate (dairy free) to make a chocolate milkshake with the Pepti.
