Who has had one of these? Where do they do them and for how much? Do you have to be living in Auckland for that price? When is the best time to get one? Are they worth it? Would anyone like to share their picture of one?
Sorry about the 20 questions!!!!

I've had a few 4D posts at Insight Radiology in Parnell. They seem to range in price from about $90 (that was the 18 week scan) to $45 (that was the 32 week scan).
The two radiographers there are so lovely!

Here's a 4D pic of my wee man at the 32 week scan a couple of weeks ago:

Cute pic!

You really need to shop around for prices as they vary a lot. I know theyy are harder to get out of Aklnd, so your options may be more limited. We decided against one in the end and as it would have been our 34 weeks scan where we did it I am glad we didnt bother as she was not in a good posotion to show her face.

We got one with #3 and best thing we did. We love the photo and can see a resemblence of him now. We got it done at Hamilton Radiology as they don't do it here. cost us $95. For that we got 2 printed out pictures, dvd and photo cd (she did around 7 photos) She did spend a bit more time on us as she knew we had travelled up especially for it and Rhyley was all arms and legs and had either one of those in his face. This is a picture of our fav:

with a hand

At 30 weeks

I had a couple done at chch womens because they were looking for a cleft and second time because they had stuffed up and booked me in for a scan to check size but shouldnt have (wasnt two weeks since the last one) and I think the lady felt sorry for me cos it was snowing and I had come all the way in for nothing so she did a 3D one and it was soooo cool. Got about 4 wee photos printed out. At that stage they didnt offer 3or4d ones in chch and although they have the technology not many of them know how to use it!

This is the gremlins at 19w (done at Ascot, costs $160 but is sooooo worth it!)
Mercedes...

Sienna...

And at 28 weeks (done at Ak XRay, $30 but this was their second go at it, was a total waste of my time the first time AND they didn't do the diagnostic 2D scan properly)

Hi

Do you need to get a specific referral from your mw or can you just go (thinking specifically of Insight in Akld)

Thanks

You still need a referral Simsam.

You don't need a referral for Ak Xray in Dominion Rd - but it will cost you full price (you can have your 20wk scan done there for $30 if you have a referral, but all other dates or no referral = around $90/100).

We had our 20wk scan done there, and definitely worth it for $30 even though its a bit too early to get a great pic (best pics are between 26-36wks).

For Hamilton we did not need a referral from the midwife to get it done ( this is at 30 weeks) although you have to pay for it yourself - it cost $95.

I had my one at Ak Xray at 28 weeks and it was $30 but it was a scheduled growth scan so I had a referral. I was really unimpressed tho, the sonographer wasn't very professional and rushed thru it, didn't measure the girls correctly and at my next scan there was some question of whether or not Mercedes was growing which wasn't helped by the poor job she did. I made a formal complaint and they repeated the 4d part of the scan which is the pics I posted above, but I couldn't in all honesty recommend them, and I wish I'd spent the extra $$$ to have it done at Ascot who were brilliant.

Thats a shame Emma, the lady we had was lovely.
We considered going back to have another one later in the pregnancy, but bub tried to come out 8 weeks early so has been too far down from 32 weeks for them to get a good face pic (I assume?) so we haven't bothered. Also we didn't expect I'd still be pregnant for long after what happened - let alone past my due date!!

They look so great. Does anyone know if you can get them in Wellington?

They recommend you have them between 28 and 30 weeks (of cause unless you get before hand) or else baby can be too big and not able to get a good face picture. Would of been in my case since my lil man wasn't that little. and the fact that they can go into the engaged position too.
