ok so as you know while we are at home we try and use real cloth nappies...the proper folding ones. Well Ella is getting annoyed at her wet butt so today I finally put on a pea pod - we were given a few and DH liked them so went and bought a few more...

QUESTION - do i place anything extra inside these? like a liner (we do that in the cloth ones)? Or do i just put on as is with the booster inside? OR???? am i doing these right???

At moment she has the cover on and the booster inside the flap and has been pretty happy and has even gone to sleep wearing it....

I use them with a microfleece liner but its not neccessary. I also generally use them with the peapods insert plus a BKT or microfibre booster folded into the insert, because Benjy is a heavy wetter.
Only other thing I can think to add is make sure you tuck the elastic in around her legs and the flap at the back so the microfleece isn't showing to prevent leakage.

Liner isn't necessary, i try to use one if i think she is due a poo, as it makes the scraping less of a task and mess, mind you Fay is a great aim and usually misses the liner so I wonder if it is worth it???

You'll also need to use a liner if you are putting any creams on her little butt to prevent the cream from blocking up the fleece (theres a proper term for that but I can't for the life of me think of what it is )

You can just experiment with what you put inside the nappy till you find what works best for you. You could even fold up your old style flats and use those aswell as the peapod inserts. Good luck.

little pee meister has managed to leak right thru the pea pods and a pompom one!!! dont know if i am not doing them right or what but they last maybe an hour on her - if that!!! ARGH!!!

we arent using creams on her that would do anything...luckily she doesnt get nappy rash.

i put the inset into the flap part right....i didnt use the booster in the end but she still managed to pee right through and onto her onsies....that is my other question...should i not put onsies on with them? they have gotten wet each time so i have to strip her!!!

The inserts might not be absorbant enough. I have heard that they aren't really very absorbant on their own and if they have hemp in them (and i'm very sure that they do) they will take a few washes for them (the inserts) to be at their most absorbant. Try using the booster aswell.

There shouldn't be anything wrong with her wearing a onesie. Could it perhaps be a bit small (with the big nappy butt) and riding up under the nappy a little (iykwim) and getting wet that way? That was happening with Noah and a bigger onesie has solved that problem.

Yep, that will be cos the hemp insert needs to be washed lots to reach its full absorbancy (I think 5-10 times).

I'd go with what the others have said and try using the booster plus insert. I found hemp on it's own never lasts the gremlins long enough as it's two slow to absorb and the wet just slides right off, whereas with the microfibre booster it absorbs the liquid quickly then slowly lets it thru to the hemp layer.

if the onesie is too snug then it may cause compression wicking...you know how a sponge is fine but if you push on it the liquid comes out. and yeah washing the hemp inserts lots to get maximum absorbency. also i know they recommend you put the pocket in the dryer to seal any holes from sewing them too.

i never had muc success using the peapod insert by itself. with prefolds or microfibre inserts they are great overnight, but during the day i usually stuff with just a prefold or microfibre.
