When we bring Mia home she will be nearly 7 months, What do I need to buy for her in the way of toys, what size clothes do you think she will fit? What stage mentaly would she be? Sorry about all the questions I just thought the ladies on here might have an idea.

I'm not sure what stage she'll be at mentally, as I guess that will depend a lot on how much stimulation/encouragement she's had earlier on, but my girls are just about 8 months now and they seem to enjoy the peekablocks and roll around balls, one of their fave things to do is put the balls/blocks into and out of a big plastic bowl. They also like anything they can chew on, and they quite like the Fisher Price Tether Ball thingie they have (altho it drives me nuts coz it goes off all by itself  )
I remember Maya used to have some old baby bottles full of dry pasta/rice as shakers that she liked too. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

with clothes its a hard one as all babies are different sizes, my girl at 7months was wearing 0 and 1, maybe find out her weight and measurements so you can kind of take a guess form there, or buy 00 & 0.
when haleigh was 7months she was starting to walk around furniture so anything that she could push like a block trolley/ ride on truck. she loved (and still does) her little touch leap pad, books, shapes toys, peekaboo blocks, pots with wooden spoons to bang and make noise, balls, toys that got her thinking to like this bear with zips and domes, buttons etc on him he also jingled he used to amuse her for ages. all babies develop differnet mentally so its hard to tell what stage she will be at when she arrives. are you able to find out what sort of things she's into?? ------------- http://lilypie.com">

How exciting, not long now!
Xavier is nearly 7 months old... he's crawling, pulling himself up on furniture and trying to climb and walk. MOST babies that age aren't doing that yet! His favourite toys are anything noisy. He likes to shake/crinkle/squeeze toys, most things go into his mouth at least once as well. Xavier also loves his Jolly Jumper! Umm... he's fast outgrowing size 00 clothing, but he's a big boy. Oh wow Leah not long to go Like everyone else said it's sort of hard to know until she arrives or they give you some measurements. She will probably fit in size 00, 6-9 month clothes. Stuff at Pumpkin Patch is a bit bigger. If she is a tad on the small size at least she will grow into them. Isla Is alomost 8 months old, and is on the 50% line for height and weight and fits this size well now.But is also in a lot of size 0 stuff for the length of arms and legs, but they are huge in the body! If u buy them close to when she is coming and leave the tags on you will be able to echange them if the size is way off!
Isla loves anything with noise, and loves to chew everything. Rattles and small soft drink bottles containing glitter or other things that are bright and make noise she loves! - oh I just rad back and saw that Emma wrote that too! Isla loves singing and reading books.She also has a stacker with rings on that she loves pulling off. Those peek-a-boo blocks are great! Isla loves bashing them down when daddy build towers for her! |

I was also going to suggest with the clothing to keep the tags on them and the receipts as well and then if they are too small you can easily take them back to get the next size up. I would guess she will be a small baby so 00 would be a good start. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

Clothes size depends on height and weight so it's a tricky one to guess. If I were you I'd buy a small pile of size 00s and 0s from the second hand shop and upgrade her wardrobe little by little as you feel ready. ------------- |

Hi Leah.. when is Mia Birthday?
Rhyley is almost 7 months. Toy wise he loves anything he can hold and look at and ues chew, he is teething which I think alot of our Nov babes are (hes got 2) Loves his soft blocks, dad stacking them and him knocking it down. Toys that make a noise easily for them, Bath toys is what Rhyley is into too. Perhaps an exersaucer maybe the way but also you could hire that from a toy library to see if its worth paying out for one as they are a bit expensive. Oh what I am looking at is a toy piano - fisher price. Leap pad for books or normal books. As fpr clothes - she is asian isn't she? and they tend to be smaller than european children, Rhyley is in size 0 although he is a larger child. Perhaps you can ask what weight and length she is and if not you will have lots of fun taking her shopping with you for clothes. If you got size 00 trousers and tops you could fold the legs and sleeves if a bit too big. Oh how exciting for you (I feel excited for you) It will be here before you know it and if she is a nov bubs look forward for you joining us in the nov thread. ------------- Ann

6 months My hearing has improved and I'm starting to learn which direction sounds are coming from. Have you noticed what type of music I like yet? I'm learning to imitate your behaviour, blow bubbles at me and I'll try it too. I'll smile at myself in the mirror and squeal with delight when I'm happy. 7 months I'm well on the way to sitting up without assistance. My curiosity has me reaching out toward everything in my sight. Maybe it's time for you to help me feed myself, don't leave me unattended though, it's safer, neater and I'll learn faster by watching you. Gosh you must be so excited! What day is Mia's birthday again? She's about the same age as my Krystiana (14 Jan). ------------- |

Hi Leah,
Congratulations on your soon to be new arrival. I've got an almost 8 month old and chewing seems to be the big thing at the moment. He likes to pick things up in his hands, pass them from hand to hand, slober all over them, chew for a while and then throw them at his older brothers. You can often pick up a lot of appropriate toys from trademe if you want to instantly bulk up your supply. At the moment though, little Mia is probably going to be busy playing with her new favourite toy - you. I'm not sure if you have received an information on attachment disorder - which has a relatively new diagnosis but is common with infants adopted from Russia, Romania, India and China. I found a site with information on it here http://members.tripod.com/~radclass/slide01.html - site . My MIL is a primary school DP and has had first hand experience with working with kiddies with it. Given that the majority of issues are established in the first year of life, it may pay to be aware of symptoms and get a good kiddie psychologist on hand to help out before primary school starts. Sounds like a great start. Choosing clothes by the weight & height is a bit more reliable than by the clothing (ie: 00, 0, or 6mths, 9mths, whatever) size, as they differ a lot as do babies sizes. Ella is in mostly 00's, but is a small but long 8-month old. Stuff like sleeping bags can afford to have some extra space in them, so buying a size up is a good idea.
