Ok, sorry if this is super long with too much information but I am a little (lot) confused.
Yesterday, as you all know, I thought AF had come. Since then I have only used 3 tampons (TMI sorry!) and there has only been the tiniest amount of blood on each one, like a spot the size of your little fingernail - and not red blood either. So, it's not yet a proper AF, but I still feel like she could be on the way. These days (and it's changed heaps already since my MC) I tend to bleed heavily for one day and then have a couple of light days, but this is completely different. If AF is still yet to come, then this cycle is way longer than my usual. Until last month I was consistently 30 days, last month I was 33 days and now I would be up to 35 days if AF is still on her way.
Anyway, my question is should I amend my chart and add on the last two days temps to my last chart? My understanding of FF is that you are only supposed to record AF on the first day of proper, red blood flow and I haven't had that yet. I have stopped using tampons (sorry again!) because I don't have any flow anymore. There's nothing at all on a panty liner.
Those of you who are pros at this... should I amend my chart so that I am continuing on my previous cycle until I have a proper AF? The only issue is that today I started a different method of temping (TMI again!!) because I sleep with my mouth open and wanted more consistent results. I recorded a much higher than usual temperature, but I am not sure if that's just because I have changed the method - I'm pretty sure that would be the only reason. I wish I had done an oral temperature too (before, not after lol) so I would be able to compare it.
But then we go back to the slight possibility - could I be pregnant? I don't feel pregnant, I have no symptoms, I have had a negative test (no question about it) and a phantom AF. But, last night's meltdown (crying over the Baby Factory ad!!) was out of character and this morning I thought my coffee tasted funny.
I'm so confused!! Like I said, I'm nearly 100% positive I am not pregnant, but I can't understand why my cycles are lengthening or where the old hag is for real. Embarrassingly (again TMI) I have had a wee feel around "up there" and am only getting white CM now - nothing with blood in it.
What do you reckon I should do about my chart? This is doing my head in!
Sorry for the long, rambling post....

OK... have I scared you off with TMI, or do you only think I wanted Jess to help me?!?
Had to put Jess' name in the subject cos she won't come into any other threads anymore!!
Any advice greatly appreciated.....

Laurie, I think you should be continuing with your last cycle chart, and just noting the bleeding as spotting. It really doesn't sound like AF, and like you said, you haven't had proper bleeding. The only problem I can see is that you've changed your method of temping ...I don't know if that would make a difference or not, but it may skew the results.
It might be best if you just sit it out until AF arrives, and then start afresh for next cycle.
When did you test? Was it a few days ago, or did you test today? It is possible that a BFP is being a bit slow (plenty of ladies on here have experienced that), although your symptoms could very easily also be the result of hormone levels. Hormones can be very cruel, mimicking (sp?) pg symptoms.
Sorry I'm not an awful lot of help ...

Laurie, I would keep it in the same cycle too. Not really too sure though, but it really doesn't sound like AF. And your temps haven't really gone down either. I think if i were you I would assume it wasn't AF and try a preg test again. Who knows?
Good luck and I hope it's good news

I agree with the others, note it as spotting and include your temps. FF won't call it the end of the cycle till you input actual menstrual flow (light, heavy, medium etc.) so if you don't consider this AF as such then go with spotting.
I too hope it's a good sign (and LMAO about 'having a feel around' - when I was first pregnant and had spotting I must confess to doing the same thing to see if there was any more bleeding )

Thanks for the responses ladies. I guess I just needed reassurance that what I think I should do is what YOU think I should do!! (Baaaa)
Today's temperature I'll mark differently and will go back to the old way until I get a proper AF. Which, I am convinced, will be soon.
I'm just frustrated as I don't understand why my cycle length is increasing when for ages and ages it's been a certain length. And now, of course, my luteal phase is different too, so it makes futher predictions harder.
Ginger, I admire your really level headed attitude to 'all this'. Obviously my situation is different to yours, I'm not trying to compare us, but sometimes I read your blog and think, "You know what? She's quite right". I guess it's easy to get all worked up and get things out of perspective. So, thanks!
Thanks to everyone else here who keeps me sane too.

Hi Laurie, I have a message from Jess for you
(Jess can't post for some reason her name has changed and she cant log in maybe one of the moderators could enlighten us?)
Anyhoo... here's the message:
"tell laurie that since shes getting away with a panty liner pretty much that its only spotting. Its AF when a panty liner wont cut it . Tell her to change her period note to spotting and it should go back to her other chart "
Hope this helps!

hi laurie - just wanted to say hang in there - our bodies have a way of tricking us, esp just when we think we know them and how they work. just another way of keeping us on our toes i suppose.

Hi Laurie, bit of a random thought but I was wondering if you have or suspect any problems like fibroids? Not that I know much about them though, but I've heard they can affect cycles and bleeding amounts. I suspect you're not pg because of your recent dip. And I know different temp methods can get slightly different results.

Hi Busymum. I had never even heard of fibroids! Looking them up on Google, they sound very scary. However, I don't have any of the symptoms, really.
I think I might just book an appointment with a doctor, cos I have lots of confusion and questions.
My doctor however has been a little bit dismissive. Is it possible to find Drs who are gynos? And would they be better equipped to deal with my questions. I guess at this stage I don't need to be thinking specialists, but perhaps I do need to be thinking someone other than my own doctor?

Oh, and Lou - thanks for passing on the message from Jess!
I've amended my chart, but I guess I am looking for specific answers, which I really need to see someone about. Eurgh.

Just a note Laurie. I was just reading FF and they said not to change your temping method halfway through a cycle because taking a temp vaginally will give a higher temp than orally.
Also, with the Dr's, I picked my doctor because he had a Diploma of Obstetrics as well (incluldes gynaecology). So there are Dr's that are kinda gynos as well, it's just a matter of finding them. Maybe you could call your medical centre or a few others and ask them if they have any on their team of doctors.

Thanks Amber, I only changed because I thought it was the start of a new cycle.... anyway, I have discarded that temp as it was significantly higher than others.
I think AF is here for real now anyway... big sore cramps all night and a lot more bleeding. Will keep an eye on it.
Going to book a Dr appointment for tomorrow (my day off for working Saturday!) so hopefully I can shed some light on all this.
Thanks to you all for your thoughtful and supportive comments - hopefully I can return the favour. But of course, hopefully I won't need to!!!

It comes with time Laurie, trust me! And, although it's nice to be past the really bad stuff (although, trust me, there are still bad times), but it's sad, you know? To have managed to get past the bad stuff, it means I've been doing this a really long time!
As naff as it sounds I'm trying to think of my situation as being for a reason, because that makes it easier ...that maybe for this time, I'm waiting so that I can help others who are going through it. Being a bit of a mother duck or whatever! I don't know ...maybe someone, somewhere, decided that I could help others who are going through the hard stuff, and that my own wait would give me the compassion I need to do that. Or, you know, so I could collect some more shoes before I have a baby and can never afford shoes again. One of the two
Trust me, I know how easy it is to get worked up about things A few months ago after having had a 28/29 day cycle forever, mine suddenly jumped out by 3 days I think it was. I was trying to be very calm, but was honestly beside myself with hope that something might finally be happening! I checked CM and cervical position about five hundred times a day, and analysed every teeny tiny symptom to death ...not to mention that my AF symptoms took on monster proportions and seemed sooo much more pronounced! It does your head in something wicked!
And, luckily for everyone TTC, there are so many gorgeous women around here with big hearts, who are ready to catch you when you stumble

Thanks Ginger - your post was as usual very kind and thoughtful. I appreciate what you've said.
You're right, there are moments that are worse than others (usually AF time!) but I try to stay positive and focus on the many other things that are wonderful in my life.
And too true - more shoes!!!
