Hi ladies

Does anyone know where I can get good larger size maternity bras? I am normally an E cup as it is, so suspect I am either going to need some industrial scaffolding or a wheelbarrow!!

I know that Bendon do some up to a F cup, but I had a look at them yesterday and they dont look like they would be able to 'hold' mine - if you get my drift!!

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sam

I bought a couple of maternity bras from the Bendon outlet at the airport in a sz 18F () which were OK, $15 each and I guess you get what you pay for. I got some Triumph ones from a place called Naturalwear in Onehunga when I was preg with Maya, the lady there was great and fitted me well etc. and I used the 3 bras I bought there (around $50 each) thr 10 mths of feeding her, and again after I had the gremlins when my milk first came in coz they were the most comfy.

Farmers have an alright range up to larger F cups. There is a triumph one (its white) that goes up to an H cup which I'm wearing now (and I'm a 16G now lol) that holds big heavy boobs up really well (surprisingly!)

I've always had the problem of being all boobs no back, pre-preggy I was 10DD/E, my maternity bras were 12E/F and the only place I could find them was on Trade Me where people had shipped them in from the States or UK.

I am an 18F and have bought the Triumph ones and they are fantastic!

I got a bra fitting first when I was just about due - the first time ever I had a fitting.

I bought mine online at breastmates.co.nz - but you can also get them from www.bras.co.nz or www.zodee.co.nz

Smith & Caughey in Auckland City has a good range of different bigger-sized maternity bras, some of them at (gasp!) reasonable prices. I bought a Triumph one there, at a cost of about $70, but it has held up really well and has actually been the most supportive of all the maternity bras I tried and bought here. S & C had several different brands and heaps of sizes -- I was pretty impressed with them. They also have shop assistants who actually know how to fit you for a maternity bra, which helps!

I also tried the Elle MacPherson ones and found them to be useless for big boobs (I'm an 18E), although pretty to look at.

Rich Undercover in Greenwoods Corner does have maternity bras, although their range is limited - it would pay to call them before you go in, to see how much they have in your size. They are also very expensive. I just bought my first post-breastfeeding "real" bra from them and it is amazing. For $95, it damn well better be amazing, I say! They are also excellent at fitting you for the right bra. I tried on about 10 "real" bras and they all felt and looked awesome, and they were all ones that the shop assistant recommended -- I never have that experience when I choose my own bras off the racks, so I was pretty impressed with them too.

To be truthful, the best-ever maternity bra I got was a Medela one from the US -- it cost me about US$35 and was well worth it. I don't know of any websites that you can buy them on and have them shipped to NZ, but if you have a friend in the US, you can always get one on a website there, have it sent to them, and have them send it here (can you tell I do that a lot???). The Medela one was underwire - impossible to find here in a maternity bra. I loved it.

Just thought I would mention that I was up in Silverdale at the weekend and there are 2 factory lingerie shps there. The Bendon had a basic range, but the other one on the end had the most amazing maternity bra range ever with plenty of big sizes. So if you can get to Silverdale, it is well worth a look. I don't remember them being particularly cheap, but there was a huge range and some were actually quite cute looking!
