Wouldn't you know it? The month I find out about the PCOS, I don't ovulate. Well, not yet at least, according to Fertility Friend. So, perhaps I will and it's just going to happen late, or my cycle is going to be a long one this month. I wonder why, all of a sudden, my cycles have gone nutty?

Anyway! I have a question. If you don't ovulate, can you still have the CM changes that accompany ovulation? eg. The day after the spotting incident, I had a small amount of EWCM after a day or two of watery CM.

No idea but on a side note, I was the same...was in a regular cycle (not sure about ovulating tho as wasn't temping) and as soon as I was diagnosed with PCOS, my cycle went mad and still is!! Very strange indeed. Have now found that I ovulate basically every second cycle.

And yet the month I was told I have PCOS I conceived. Go figure! (Still not totally convinced I actually have it)

Actually, this morning I took my temp, and it took an almighty leap upwards ...from 36.3 to 36.8. I can't discern an ovulatory dip though at this stage, but hopefully there's one in there and I'm just being blind.

I think the big drama with PCOS is ovulation and whether it does, or doesn't happen, from what I can tell from what I've been reading.

Was that with the gremlins Emma...? I already have the PCOS so perhaps I should get Al to stop wearing undies as well, since that worked for Willie as well

LMAO at Free Willie *shudder*

Yep Ginger, or more accurately with the baby I m/c a few weeks before I got preg with the gremlins. We had been TTC for 11 mths (12 cycles as mine are short) so my GYN ordered the prelim bloods and said he suspected based on history etc. that I had PCOS. Then I got preg and m/c which can be a PCOS thing (insufficient progesterone as some cycles I only had a LP of 6-8 days), then six weeks after the m/c was preg again with the gremlins.

Ginger if you've had PCOS all this time it seems strange that you only wouldn't ovulate this month.... until I remember that you don't chart every month. So maybe it has been a bit sporadic for the last few months?

Perhaps. I don't chart every month, so perhaps I don't ovulate every month and it's just happened that the months I've charted previously have been ok. Possibly this month's chart is skew - I haven't been sleeping that great, and that might be affecting the temp results.

You're right though, it is strange ...I think I got my hands on the PCOS diagnosis and then just threw them up in the air ...imagined myself breaking inside and everything grinding to a halt just because I had this new information

I have some questions ginger

With the temp yesterday how late/earlier did u take it? If you were to not take notice mentally of that i would say it is entirely possible you could have ovulated on CD16 and have had a slow rise.

PCOS can affect ovulation and the quality of your eggs.

Mine was both lol i had horrible months and i timed it all so well but my eggie always said nah.

An answer to your question is yes it is entirely possible to have fertile CM even after ovulation. I get it throughout my cycles.

Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks! My chart has detected ovulation at CD18. It's good that there is ovulation, not so good that we only BDed CD17 (PM) and it was a serious quickie before going for a huge walk with the dogs!

Oh well ...the specialist is booked, so nevermind if we write this cycle off. Silly, silly Ginger!

In answer to your question Jess, I always take my temp at 6am (when my alarm goes off, and I set it for the weekends), but I've had a few days this month where I've just 'snoozed' or slept lightly, or woken up a couple of times in the last few hours of the night. I don't know if this affects things or not, although my temps are in a low range - thinking about it, it would be a problem if they were in a high range wouldn't it? Anyway! Not much I can do about it now!!

I'm thinking that with me, it's not ovulation but egg quality. Bearing in mind (and it's so easy to forget when you're struggling with infertility!) that we have had a chemical pregnancy, and my endo specialist and Dr believe 2 failed implantations on top of that. So I'm guessing that my eggs just suck.

I will still say i reckon CD16 but see what happens if your leutal phase is shorter then you can work out when u did ovulate. Even if u did ovulate on CD18 u still would have had swimmers there waiting

Yer i had the egg quality problem to SUCKS!

Nah reason i was asking about the temping thing is for the temp that has an open circle on CD17 which generally means that you didnt take your temp at the normal time

If you Od on CD18 and BDed the night before then thats a good thing isnt it??
I Od on CD16 and only BDed once at 5pm on CD15 and got pregnant so heres hoping that it all works out for you this month

Oh ...duh! I'm with you Jess. I had a (super) early flight on Thursday and so took my temp at 4.50am, so yes, earlier than normal!!

Ginger awesome its always the way that the temp you need to confirm 100% which day ovulation was is always the one that wasnt taken at the right time LOL I have been there many times hehe

Good luck for this cycle and even if it was on CD18 u still have an awesome chance bding on CD17
