*does a little happy dance*

While we were at the allergy specalist with the twins today she skin pricked Maya for peanuts again and it was negative, so we tried her on a peanut butter sandwich and nada - NOTHING!

So my baby has FINALLY outgrown all of her allergies. Can't even begin to put into words how that feels after almost four years of avoiding whole food groups!

Wow that's very good news but also such a relief! And I guess it shines a light at the end of the tunnel for the twin(s?)' allergies as well.

So exciting for you!!! Being an allergic person, it is such a relief when you can green light something!!

Question, Emma

Jake was meant to go for a blood test today to test his lactose tolerance, as I think he is allergic to cows milk, but I was having crippling contractions (which came to nothing..)so didn't take him. I asked about the prick testing (mantoux testing?) while at drs yesterday,a nd they said he is still too little? Does that sound right? he gets wicked hayfever, and has eczema, has no probs with eggs, but would like to know what else to avoid...

Yay Emma, that must be a wonderful feeling - well done!! So how did the twins go?

Its skin prick testing Annie, and they can have it done at any age, but apparently its more reliable after age 2 - Hannah will hopefully be having it done this week (altho it sounds like they wont do it here as shes too high risk, which is totally off-topic, sorry Emma!) Mantoux is kinds similar in how its done, but it is a test for exposure to TB.

Bollocks Annie - the specialist is going to skin prick the gremlins at 9 mths so Jacob is plenty old enough!

It's so hard to explain how good it feels after four years of checking labels and worrying every time she went somewhere without me to have that taken away is awesome!

And yep, it is a light at the end of the tunnel for the gremlins. She also said that if we religiously avoid dairy, eggs, peanuts etc. till 9 mths then we *may* be able to stop them developing an allergy. So there is hope!

Aimee - good luck with Hannah's skin testing!

Emma- do you mind if I ask how bad her allergy was? I am getting Charlotte re tested when we come back in March- it would be soooo lovely to get the same news as you. We've been told her chances of growing out of it are really slim but if it happened for you...

Even if it went down so it was no longer life threatening and if it just made her sick or something- that would just be soooo good not having that worry hanging over all the time. You must be so pleased

She had moderate dairy allergy (blew up like a balloon, breathing difficulties and hives but not full blown anaphalaxis), mild egg allergy (never exposed jst had a positive RAST/skin prick) and mild peanut (also never exposed).

What is Charlotte allergic to?

Ahhh she has peanut anaphylaxis and a moderate egg allergy- mild allergies to dust mites, cats, kiwifruit, plum tomatos and has also had allergic reactions to a couple of virus' shes had. We've also been told to avoid cashews and red grapes (I'm allergic to red grapes) as a precaution.

Its the peanut one obviously that is the main worry- one of her specilists said that because she has the peanut and the egg that the likelihood of her growing out of it completely was very slim, but I'm still trying to hold out hope!
