Do kids stop really going in a pram? I really don't know if I should get a double pram or not. Jack will be 17 months when next baby is due. I have to buy a new pram anyway so I'll prob buy a second hand pram and for the price of a pram and toddler seat its about the same as getting a double. I just don't want to end up pushing round a giant pram if Jacks not in it (although it would be good for all my shopping lol).
Also at 17 months do they still fall asleep in the pram cos I wouldn't really like him to have to be stuck in a toddler seat when hes sleeping. Any tips on what you ladies have done that worked well or didn't would be great. |

i got a double off TM when i had toby - there is an 18mth age gap between my two. i found the double very handy for walks and stuff - but it didnt take long before it wasnt needed any more - so it is sitting in the garage waiting for me to on sell it. ------------- http://www.myfitnesspal.com/weight-loss-ticker">

Han doesn't generally fall asleep in the pram - but I still use it HEAPS... even though she's pretty good on walking... sometimes you just wanna get somewhere fast!

I would say we used the pram almost every time we went out until she was about 2 1/2- although she did usually spend most of her time out of it, I just took it to carry all her bits and put her in if she got too naughty or tired. She didn't sleep in it at all really after she was 1- but she was never much of a pram sleeper anyway.

I'd say it would be useful to have the option of letting him sleep in the pram if need be. There will be situations where you might want to stay out a bit later and not need to rush home to get him to bed.

Im getting another pram with a toddler seat and my son will be 3.5years old! although hes not exactly big, im getting it because Bay isnt always keen on walking and will sleep the minute he gets in the pram and i dont want a caffuffle trying to carry Bay while pushing a pram and when hubbys with us I can barely keep up with his damb long legs littlelone little mini boy!! plus hes still not at that age where i can just let him walk while i brouse the shops, i can do it now because he holds my hand but my hands may be preoccupied with the pram!!
Im just getting a P&T e3 with toddler so if hes not with me and bubs or its just him with me or we arnt going far and he wants to walk then i just wont put the toddler seat on (although its not the hugest pram anyway!!). |

If you could pick up a second hand Phil and teds that would be ideal- then you can have bubs in back when newborn and Jack in the front, then have them both in the seat bits once bubs is older and when Jack is out of it you can just take off the extra bit and have it like a single pram. ------------- Jen, Charlotte 7 & Kate 3

we got a bertini jet and it's great. if i could've got a p&t e3 though i would've. jack doesn't sleep in the pram anymore so the toddler seat works for us. he has fallen asleep once in the seat though, poor boy got tired of mummy's shopping

| Jake is two and still in the pushcahir when we go for longer walks - or when I am by myself in town - do NOT want to have to run after toddler near the street when I'm by myself. Jake was going to be 15 months when Taine was born and I had hoped to get away with one of those skateboard looking things, but there is no way he would've coped. we do LOTS of walking. Defintely get one. Jake doesn't sleep in the pram very often. he is in a toddler seat, but lately he is prefering the "back seat" option and Taine is in front. When Jake did fall asleep it looked so uncomfortable! so no real option there, but it does depend how long you have the pram around. with two kids, we rarely are out for that length of time that i would need the kids to sleep. |

I still have Briona in the stroller and wish I had a little portable one to keep in the van for when we're up town! She can walk but she walks very slowly, I often need to hold her hand, and she tires quickly. I even find Hannah's walking pretty slow once she starts to tire, last time I went for a walk with the girls (before Krystiana was born) Hannah walked some of the way and then I had the stroller available for walking home. -------------  |

| I have both, a toddler seat and a double 3 wheeler and personally i like the double 3 wheeler. Kobe is almost 3 but I still put him in it for when we do our walks cos i walk for over an hour at a time and thats to long for him to bike or walk, especailly since i go at a decent pace. If i wasnt into the whole exercise thing then i probably would have stuck with the toddler seat but he is already over the weight limit and i go through the forest so if i hit a tree root or something he could flip easily. |

I'd go for a toddler seat over a double - I have both a double buggy and a double stroller and they are huge big bulky things.
I also have a kiddie board on the back of the double buggy for when we go walking but Jack's probably a bit small for one of those just yet. ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

There's 18 months between Josiah and Xavier, and we bought a Phil & Ted e3. NO regrets! There's been a couple of times when one of us has had the pushchair and one kid, and we've just taken the toddler seat off. When we're out, most people don't realise Xavier's in the back so we haven't had lots of old ladies stopping us to coo over him.
Josiah has fallen asleep in the toddler seat a couple of times, and he's been fine. I kept Kiya in a pushchair until she was 3.5yo, although by that stage it was more when we were in town for the day and times like that... when there was more walking than she could cope with. From my husband's perspective: 17 months is definitely not too old to be in a pushchair. We've got a 5yo who still loves going in it (not that we let her very often). When they are happy to walk and are not always running off without coming back then they can get out of the pushchair. It's not just them being in the pushchair, its also about ease of control (for want of a better word) ------------- Becca, mum of 2 girls & 3 boys |
