Right now i really have not a heck of alot of tolerance for the crazy toddler rollercoaster. I mean i give chances, i explain, i do all the other stuff. But on the odd occasions when it just doesn't wash.. I have resorted to calling their bluff. Last night was one of those nights.

After working all day and Ayja having stayed awake till about 1 the night before doing sily things, I remembered at about 8pm that i had to make 2 cakes for my nephews birthday partys this evening.. had forgotten it was saturday cos my work week started on thursday. lol. so stayed up making cakes till about 11.30.

Then, Miss ayja decided to wake, usually we settle her back with a bottle and off to bed again. she got up at midnight.. and mike was still up so gave her a bottle, and i went back to bed.

but he went against my cardinal rules (which are in place for a reason.. ie, no light on, straight to bed after, no playing) I woke an hour later, to find him just putting her to bed.. she started to play up so he took her to the kitchen for a drink of water (she'd just had a bottle!).. then put her to bed.. with the light on!!..and came and hopped in bed.

me being the mean mum i am went and turned it off.
(sssooooo NOT forming that habit!) that was about 1am. by 2.15 she was still doing a berk, with small breaks in between (each time i thought she'd given up). So i went in, and said to her "do you want to go outside and sleep with the bunnies? little girls that won't sleep in their bed have to sleep outside"

the little monkey says, YES! and tried to climb out of the cot.

So i go, open the back door, put her on the step, and push the door to half way so i can still see her , she stands at the edge of the step, looking out at the "Dark", i open the door after a second or two, she turns around, looks at me very shocked (as if to say "damn, mum called my bluff," lol) and just toddled back inside and off down the hallway and tried to climb into bed. I put her in, tucked her down and didn't hear a peep.

I felt mean, but ARGH!, as it was, i had to get up at 5.45 to go to work.. so i got about 3 and a half hours sleep if that.

Part of it makes me chuckle as her response but the other part thinks "how could a mum stick her kid outside in the middle of the night?!" (fair amough was at arms length away and door half open.. but still)..
still better i spose than going off at her.

This afternoon i said to her that tonight she would go to sleep nicely wouldn't she. Paris pipes up and goes "yeah or you'll have to go outside with the bunnies".. Ayja just looks at her and goes "cold,..dark" lol..

Obviously sleeping with the bunnies isn't as appealing as she originally thought.

What a great idea! Might work on my lonkey - although she's so stubborn she probably would go outside!

Am reading this while Ella is standing at her bedroom door - it is shut but she doesn't come out.. I'm pretending not to hear her

Good on you for sticking to your guns, hopefully she will take you more seriously now!

You really have to laugh sometimes don't you. Not so funny at the time of course. Nice fast thinking on your behalf.
