Completley new here, but dont know who to talk to.
I have been on progesterone cream for months due to some small fibriods. I became pregnant 6 weeks ago. My doctor suggested I abort as I have some health issues. I was horrified as I was very excited to have this baby and knew id be fine as I have been with my other child. I said im def keeping my baby. I asked her if I continue with the cream. She thought about it then said no stop the cream now. I did and miscarried 5 days later.
I am disturbed to read online that sudden drop in using cream can likelycause miscarriage.
Im devistated. Is this true from any ones experience or knowledge?
I dont understand why the doctor would tell me to stop?

Hi,
I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear of your loss. Miscarriage is horrible at any time without the added stress of perhaps it being preventable.
I have no idea why your doctor would have told you to stop taking the cream as surely the cream could have only done good things for your pregnancy. I'm not an expert on the use of progesterone but I would imagine that stopping suddenly at that point may not have been the best thing for you as I'd imagine your body wouldn't have been producing it's own? (someone will know more of course!) Unfortunately with miscarriage it can be very hard to know what causes it and it could've be a coincidence. I'll be honest in saying I'm very surprised that your doctor recommended that and would be asking some questions of them or even finding the care of someone else.
Hopefully some others will jump in here with what they think. And keep popping by if you need to talk - you shouldn't go through your loss on your own and many ladies on here know what you're going through xx

Hi that's terrible news & advice from your doctor. Here's my experience with it. I've had 5 pregnancies with progesterone (3 mcs prior) which I started at the time of positive HPT. One 2 yo & currently 9w2d pregnant this time. So 3 pregnancies the progesterone didn't help keep the pregnancy so there's a possibility you would have mc'd anyway due to other factors. It's hard to say for sure.
I would certainly be investigating the advice you were given if you feel up to it.
I'm sorry you've had to go through this.
