Hi ladies

Sorry in advance for the novel

We had an appt today to discuss iui at FA and well my doc didn't inspire any confidence infact I feel more deflated than anything. She said that iui is more for unexplained fertility and with me having pcos and df having had a vasectomy reversal our chances are 15%, and so ivf would be better but as my bmi is still too high to get on the funding list we want to do something now as after 12 rounds of failed fert meds cycles (6 clomid and 6 letrozole/femara) it felt good to be focusing on the next step.

So df has given a sample of his men for anti bodies and if that comes back ok we will go ahead with iui, if not then she basically said ivf is only way will conceive. She has given me a script for letrozole/femara for it but I did ask about the injections as had read they give a better chance and the doc said they would only increase chance by 1-2% so raise it to a 16-17% chance and cost almost another $1000 (though I looked at their pricing and gonal is only $300), and with having pcos and oing at different times I was wanting the trigger

So I am looking on any advice as to whether having the injections over the pills is worth the extra money and any other advice/opinions on iui ad pricing for the injections etc
We only have enough for 2 rounds of iui so I want to make them count we have been trying over 3 years so hoping won't have to wait for ivf!

Thank you for any help!

One thing you could also consider would be doing whatever you can to get his sperm optimally healthy and your body in best condition too. I am one of many IUI & IVF patients working with Loula George at Motherwell in Mt Eden Auckland. I definitely credit my success at getting pregnant on my 2nd round of IUI to her. (Also acupuncture too has helped I think.)
As for sperm health, we are using an anonymous donor, but previously had a known donor who she helped out immensely. His SA count was 20 million at his first test (which was too low for IUI with froze sperm), so she gave him supplements and got him to change his diet and add a lot of green vegetables. He retested after 8wks and his count had shot up to 170 million!!
Google her :-) Good luck.
