Just wondering if anyone has been to an acupuncturist in Auckland to help them with TTC that they would recommend?

DH and I have been TTC since January this year. We conceived quite quickly at the end of Jan but that ended sadly in a missed miscarriage and D&C in April after only 8 weeks. We conceived again in June, but that ended in a chemical pregnancy at only 5 weeks. I have fairly regular cycles (27-29 days), use OPKs and chart my temperature (ovulate around day 16) and we've been focusing on eating healthy, getting regular exercise and taking a couple of vitamins (zinc, B6 and folic acid) every day, and while we seem to have the ability to conceive and haven't been trying for that long (compared to some!), it is starting to become a bit exhausting - given that we've now had 2 losses and are only 1 loss away from a referral to the recurrent pregnancy loss clinic, which I would rather avoid! So I'm looking around for something to try which isn't too "out there" or out of the ordinary, and I figure acupuncture is worth a go...especially as it has other health benefits as well as supposedly helping with TTC.

I figure somewhere that comes recommended is a good way to choose one - I work in Auckland Central and live near Remuera so if anyone has any recommendations close to downtown or out towards the suburbs near Remuera, I'd love to hear them.

Hi Rin, so sorry to hear of your losses - I know you from the TTC after mc thread :) I had a mc in Jan followed by two d&c's. when we were ready to TTC I started going to mother-well clinic in Mt Eden. I started seeing Janine Cuff weekly for acupuncture and was fortunate enough to fall pregnant. I now see her less regularly but see Rebekah Paddy naturopath and one of the owners there. They are really wonderfully and supportive and have a number of other services there also. It gets a but pricey with appointments and any supplements etc they recommend but I've found it worth it...particularly to fall pregnant and get through that horrible first trimester when we hadn't wanted to share our news yet x

I second Mac - Motherwell is amazing! I see the woman who set it up - Loula George - she is a naturopath (but I think she also has a Bachelor of Science from memory), so is really open to working naturopathicly (sp!) but will use western medicine too when she needs to. I feel she's provided me with the best of both worlds. She specializes in pre-conception care & also miscarriage. She really is amazing. But you do have to go multiple times and do what she says and tell her as much info as you can ... All the gory period details etc lol.

I had acupuncture from Janine twice a couple of weeks ago as my regular acupuncturist wasn't available so she did my pre & post IUI treatments - she was excellent.

I regularly go to Suzanne Downie who also specializes in fertility & pregnancy acupuncture, she does Japanese style & is based in grey lynn (& does a kingsland clinic too). Let me know if you wanted details.

Good luck!

Hi Rin

I currently see Donna Hall at Harmonise who works out of Parnell and she is wonderful. Her room is so comfortable and I feel so relaxed and pampered when I leave, it's like I've been for a facial or something! She uses acupressure rather than the electrical currents which is lovely, and she also uses Metagenics vitamins/herbs/supplements which are awesome. Donna is a trained nurse and midwife however delivered her last baby earlier this year and is no longer practicing.

Hope this helps
