Hello I'm new :)
Iv been off the pill for 2 weeks after being on it for 6 years. Before I went on I had irregular cycles and could never track them. Any tips how I can aid getting pregnant?

Hey Laura personally I found charting reassuring as it made me feel more confident tracking ovulation.

Hi Laura - welcome! After coming off the pill it can take a while before you start ovulating again, so for the next few months I'd try to just enjoy life, enjoy er, practising getting pregnant in the bedroom, and just being healthy. With any luck you'll start getting cycles again.

However, having irregular cycles in the past means you might find you don't develop regular cycles now, and that can mean you're not actually ovulating. So I'd wait a couple of months, then probably talk to your doctor about getting some blood tests done to see what your hormone levels are doing.

Good luck!

Charting is when you check your basal body temperature and plot your daily temperatures on a graph, which will help you predict when your most fertile days are - I haven't tried it myself but I'm considering it if we don't get pregnant this month.

I was on the pill for 13 years and had no clue as to how regular my cycles were, as I'd been on the pill for sooo long, and was skeptical when my doctor told me that most women's cycles "go back to normal" within 2 months of stopping the pill. But then I stopped the pill at the end of November last year, had my first non-pill period at the end of December and was pregnant by early Feb. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage and now we are back at square one again - but my cycle seems to have returned to normal fairly quickly again. My advice is to have fun with trying to get pregnant to start with and see what happens for a couple of months while your body 'remembers what to do'.

On the flip side it took around 12months for my cycles to get back to normal after stopping the pill. We weren't trying during that time (doing long distance) so no idea if I ovulated but they were very irregular. I hope it doesn't take that long for you!

Hi Laura
I have been tracking my cycle with fertility friend for about a year and have been off the pill about 6 months. I found it helpful for getting to know my cycle and use OPKs to see if the dates line up with the fertility friend app. :)
Was interesting to see what my body did as I have been on the pill for 8 years. :)
