So I am 23 and my lovely partner asked me to marry him two years ago.. We have finally started to make plans to get married, but my problem is finding bridesmaids. We moved around a lot when I was younger and I just don't have the friends! My sister is 19 we get on great, but we have very little in common - I feel more like her Mother! I also have a friend that I work eight hour night-shifts with, we are very similar and get on amazingly, but we have only known each other for possibly 3-4 months and we have never seen each other out of work, asking her seems a bit inappropriate. I do have a family friend that I have known since I was 2.. But we don't talk anymore and she has lost custody of her son due to drug use and I have no idea whether I could rely on her.. Without all the background information but basically we have a lot of expectations with our wedding and not having bridesmaids will be frowned upon and the judgement will ruin our day!
Any advice on how to choose my BMs? Should I ask my work mate, or should we have known each other longer? What about my family friend?

Ask your work mate! At the end of the day - its YOUR day! Do it how you like :) Bugger the "expectations"! Do what makes you happy - who cares if you have only known the work mate for a short period - I'm sure she would be thrilled to stand next to you on your big day. Also, bridesmaids don't have to be chicks - how about some close guy friends? It can be anybody who means something to you - who you want to be there with you! Or just have no bridesmaids etc and Just have two witness's? - More common than you think :) Congrats BTW - how exciting!

First of all, congratulations! I agree though, ask your work friend! If you guys get along the best, then why the heck not? She'll be so excited, I'll always remember how excited I was when I got asked to be a bridesmaid at my friend's wedding. At the end of the day, it's your big day. Do whatever makes you happy :)

Choose whoever you like! I'm having my sister as a bridesmaid. Haven't decided if I'm having more.
