Hey

Would love to hear what size babies every one had second time round versus first. My first was 8pound 5 & I'm completely paranoid that this one cooking at the moment is going to be a 9 pounder! Everything I'm seeing so far talks about a jump in size for #2....

Did you find your diet was different with #2? My MW was saying that can play a big part and I know I've definitely been eating more carbs this time round (and keeping more down!)

I'm still getting my head around #2!!! 4 seems crazy to me - but I can definitely see how a big family would be awesome. Think I'd need a full time assistant!

First was 8lb 9oz, second was 9lb 6oz and this one is measuring larger still LOL. I'm fully expecting this baby to be at least the same weight as #2 was and quite possibly bigger again, given they're currently measuring above the 100th percentile Wink

BTW- growth scans can be very misleading, which is why I take them with a grain of salt. However they ought to give an indication at least of whether you're having a smaller or larger baby in general.

So far the trend is looking bigger!!! (glad to hear 2nd was quicker and easier Lorna!) I had heard that bigger babies are easier to birth but not sure if that's just a myth....

Subsequent babies don't always get bigger. There are so many factors at play! My first was 9lb2oz and they got smaller with each baby (I've had three). I wouldn't worry too much. Our bodies are designed to grow babies that we can birth.

My DS1 was 9lb4oz and was born at 38 wks. DS2 was 11lb9oz and was born at 40+2 weeks. DS2 was a far easier and quicker birth. Quietly freaking out about how big #3 will be (due in April) :()

I think the trend is for babies to get bigger- generally speaking. Not an absolute though of course. Birth also tends to get quicker as a rule. Last one was 2 hours lol so wondering what #3 will be! Wink

Emmecat, was she really 11lbs?! If it's any consolation, the births got faster and easier - the last one was 70 minutes. Good luck!

My #1 was 7lb (40+1) and #2 was 8lb (40+4), but I don't think it's a given that subsequent babies are bigger. My mum's biggest baby was her 1st of 4, with her last bubs being smallest.
