Hi Everyone..I am new here and first day posting so please give me all your best tips!
We recently got married and I have a nearly 8 year old from a previous relationship. We (new husband and I) couldn't decide if we wanted a child of our own or not but have decided to go for it! He is a fantastic stepdad but I would love the chance for him to have a child of his own. Trouble is I am 38 and have PCOS so not sure of our chances. I have a period every month (usually 29-31 days) and *think* im ovulating but don't really know LOL. I should add..despite having PCOS, my son was unplanned and so this TTC business is completely new and alien to me! We have been trying since our wedding nite haha (3 months ago) and the Dr has given me a script for iodine and folic acid so what else do I need to know :-)
Thanks

Hi Evie, welcome well you're starting off in the right place with your Dr's visit, FA and iodine! Since you're over 35 after 6 months of TTC I think you can ask for help and be refered to specialists - other ladies here will have more info on that.
In the meantime you could just BD (baby dance/have sex) around your estimated ovulation, which would be about cycle day 14 to 18 I think? Or you could try charting with Fertility Friend (an app), take your temperature each day to get a more accurate time frame for conception.
I'm not sure how cruisy or serious business like you want to start off, I wish you all the best though, and really hope you can add to your family!

Good luck Evie. If you're getting a period you're generally ovulating. I have nothing more to offer than what Nel has above except that def seek help after 6mths if no luck because getting the right help from specialists can take time.

Hi Evie, Welcome and good luck. All above advise is great. I have PCOS too but my cycles were all over the place. Temping is a great idea to see when you do ovulate and then lots of BDing. There is a temping thread and waiting to ovulate and tww which a lot of us hang out in.

:) welcome! CD stands for cycle day so the first day of your period or AF (Aunt Flo) would be CD1 - trust me in no time you'll be using it like a second language :p

Hey Evie, welcome! Theres a really handy FAQ section on the site which has all the acronyms, how to set up tickers etc which I find really helpful in learning the lingo. Theres also a thread called 'Inbetweeners' for all us over 30's if you wanted to join in there too :)
