Hi ladies,
I saw somthing similar while lurking on a U.S forum not long ago - This is just a thread where people who are TTC can 1. properly Introduce themselves and give insight to them as a person if they so wish or 2. Just somewhere you can talk about either TTC or non-TTC related matters, even though everything always seems to relate some how it feels No pressure about topic or anything, just a fun forum to help pass the time while we are on our TTC journeys!
Eg. Thread can be used to recommend movies, books, cafes, restaurants, beauty products, holiday destinations... Or just vent, ramble, get others opinions, whatever you want!!
Here's a bit of an intro template below, so feel free to copy and past if you want to introduce yourself! The questions aren't compulsory, just leave the question out if you prefer not to answer something. And feel free to add on any fun facts or info too
Age: City: Family: Occupation: Interests: Favourite food: Favourite TV shows: Favourite book: Guilty pleasures: A quote you live by:
I will get the ball rolling... Feel free to join any time
Age: 28 City: Wellington - I'm a Wellingtonian through and through too (I don't handle humidity well, I love cities like Welly that are easy to get around, and I love a good cafe with top notch coffee) Family: Hoping to start my family asap, so far it's just my partner and I and our little Chihuahua x Maltese dog, he's tiny and very loving, he's my baby at the moment and gets spoilt rotten. TTC journey: Have only been TTC for a few months now officially, after a surprise pregnancy in December which resulted in a recent loss (which I've talked about a bit on the forums, si i'll cut my story short as most of you will have read it) I lost a baby girl in trimester 2 (week19) Occupation: Currently not employed, but I am a Fraud Investigator by trade. Have spent the last 7 years working as an investigator. Interests: I'm a girly girl, so I love hair, makeup, and beauty related anything. I also love cooking!! Oh, and obviously babies and TTC Favourite food: Sushi and Mexican food Favourite TV shows: Friends is my all time fave! An oldy but a goody! Favourite movies: I love comedies, and anything girly, but I could watch the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall over and over and never get bored! Favourite book: I recently read Jessica Alba's lifestyle book 'The honest life' and LOVED it! Guilty pleasures: Reality TV (Kardashians, Real Housewives, Geordie Shore.. All that garbage ) and hair extensions!! Addicted A quote you live by: "Be who you are and say what you feel. Because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind"

Hey, I'll join in. Feel the need to tell someone my guilty secret...Just bought another 15 cheapie pregnancy tests. I figure it should keep me busy for 3-5 mths. Depends on whether I use 3 or 5 a month.....
Age: 25 City: We were in Hastings, but just bought our own home in a little town about 40 mins drive south. Much cheaper down here for just about everything :) Family: There's me, my partner of 4 years (as of tomorrow :D) and my 2 beautiful girls, oldest is 3 and youngest will be 2 end of August. Occupation: I stay at home and look after my 2 beautiful girls and work on improving my housework skills, I have a lot of improving to do...I'm pretty terrible if I do say so myself. On the other hand I look after my girls brilliantly, they never want for food, cuddles, attention, love, clothes and nappies :) Interests: I love babies, pregnancy and young children, in particular my own :D I'm also very interested in childbirth and am willing to inform anyone who wants to listen on informed choice, risks/benefits, recent research etc. I love reading up on everything to do with childbirth and young babies/children and also how different societies raise their children and how they turn out differently. Favourite food: Ummm, if someone else cooks it...and it tastes good (and has no mushrooms in it) then its a favourite :) Favourite TV shows: None in particular, we don't have TV as such. Merely the TV set and DVD players. If we like something we buy it when it comes out on DVD. I do love Doctor Who though! Favourite book: I'm a bookaholic, I love to read and can read quite fast. I tend to like sci-fi/fantasy and romance Guilty pleasures: Chocolate! Sleeping in by tucking the girls in with me with snack food/fruit and put Dora on TV/DVD A quote you live by: Can't think of onw atm, I'll get back to you. Something along the lines of..you can always do it tomorrow (thinking of housework) Which is why I'm so bad at it!!!

So great getting to know more about everyone.. I mean, if we are talking about sex, cervical mucous and periods toeach other as we do, it makes sense to know the less personal things too right
Nervous, didn't know you lived in Palmy! I was born there
Jess, don't think I knew you were getting married.. Congrats!! sorry if I have already congratulated you in another thread.. There are quite a few girls with upcoming weddings! So exciting but stressful I am sure, hehe
Kali, I will have to get some advice from you on childbirth etc when I get my official BFP!

Thanks! Not so stressful - more fun :D Its alot different to most wedding I think and we are both pretty laid back about it haha
And yes I agree about how we can chat about all things baby/pregnancy/TTC related so anything less personal should be fine! haha
Tay is allowed to watch TV after she is ready for school in the morning - before she catches bus and ALWAYS choses MTV music chanel - does my head in that they play the same songs OVER AND OVER they just call the playlists something different - ie: UK Top 40 NZ Top 40 OZ Top 40 lol THEYR ALL THE SAME SONGS!

Ooh this is fun! Here's me
Age: 29! Big 30 in March next year City: Dunedin, but have also lived in Palmerston North and overseas Family: Just me and DH now, we will eventually get a dog as well. We've been together 9 years, married for 3.5. Hoping for four children, but as time goes on, that might decrease! Will be at least three kids though. Occupation: Vocational Consultant, but studying a Masters in Health Psychology and am originally a solicitor. Ultimate goal is to be doing research and implementing it in the community. Interests: Running - have done a few half marathons and one marathon. Travelling - did my OE a couple of years ago through Europe, South America and Middle East and loved it, heading to the US later this year and eyeing up Asia for next year. And reading! Mostly chick lit, legal/crime thrillers or historical biographies. Favourite food: SO many!! Love a good roast though, and I'm a bit of a vege nut - everytime DH is away for dinner, you can pretty much guarantee that the staples of my meal will be pumpkin and broccoli! Favourite TV shows: Don't watch a lot of TV but watch Shorty during dinner, Mrs Brown's Boys and 7 Days. Favourite book: Jane Eyre Guilty pleasures: Wine. Coffee. And I have a wicked sweet tooth! A quote you live by: It's not really a quote but I like to be productive and to achieve something towards my goals every day. I dream big but I like to think I'll achieve them all :) I have a plaque by my desk that reads "Believe there are no limits but the sky" which sums it up!

Fun stuff, haha love these things!
Age: 30, Born on Father's Day, which was ironic because he wasn't in the picture! Also a Virgo, and a little obsessed with Sun Signs (well a lot). City: Wellington. Still feel like Sydney is my home, lived there for two years (18-20). Will be buying a house next year with DH and moving to the Wairarapa. I love BIG city's and the country side - not really an inbetween small town person. Family: Me and DH married 5 years this 5th July, first meet 14 years ago! Zebra 11yo - male stray ozzie kitty, Bandit 7yo - male Dalmatian, Smokey 6 yo - female German Shepherd. I want 4 kiddies, DH is sticking firmly to only 2! Because he wants to live 'comfortably'. So I hope we win Lotto! Occupation: Team Administrator, it's like a PA but for a group of people. I also do event organisation for the company I work for. It's quite fun! Interests: Gosh, I love too many things. Writing, Reading, Drawing, Painting, Running, Snow Boarding, Interior Design, Gardening, Cooking, Organising! Favourite food: Cafe foods, I LOVE cafe foods and also Mexican, sushi, roasts, fine dining, juicing, smoothies. I'm a big foodie. Favourite TV shows: Grey's Anatomy, Modern Family, Battlestar Galactica, True Blood, Glee, Once Upon a Time, Jamie Oliver cooking shows, Grand Designs, Game of Thrones, Home and Away. OK for someone who doesn't watch TV channels, I sure do watch a LOT of shows. Favourite book: urgh. I like lots of books. sci-fi, fantasy types. Robin Hobb, The Wheel of Time, Harry Potter, I can't remember, too many. Guilty pleasures: Hair removal? I can't stand my body hair and do absolutely anything to remove it. Was going to start laser hair removal end of last year but apparently if you're pregnant they won't zap you. Also it's likely pregnancy will stimulate hair growth so better to wait until after having children. A quote you live by: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". I feel too much for people, always put myself in their shoes.

Hahahaha I had fun with bold and underline here, so not sure what this will look like:
Age: 31 City: Auckland Family: Married boyfriend of 8 years in January (after much dragging of heels). We have, love and adore our one pussy cat. I try every now and again to effectively use my sewing machine. I love baking pretty cakes too and quite often go to decorating classes. My main hobby used to be 'planning a wedding', now I think it might be 'planning a baby'. Favourite food: I love all (vegetarian) food! especially carbs. I am not sure 'potato' can be called a favourite food, but that's probably it. Favourite TV shows: Grey's Anatomy, cooking shows like My Kitchen Rules and Masterchef. Favourite book: I tend to most enjoy historical fiction but am trying to broaden my horizons by working through the Whitcoulls top 100. Guilty pleasures: a mocha on my way to work every now and again, shopping at Nosh from time to time, Chinese takeaways on a week night haha. A quote you live by: smiling is contageous, you catch it like the flu.

Favourite TV shows: Glee, Game of Thrones (but I was finishing the books when this season started, so we are playing catch up) Guilty pleasures: Teen Mom - I like seeing how the girls cope (or not) and I'm actually really impressed with Catelynn for adopting her daughter out, and with Maci who seems to create an awesome environment for Bentley, even though she has issues with his Dad (I haven't seen much of Teen Mom 2) A quote you live by: Walk a mile in another persons shoes. I really dislike when people don't think of the other side when they complain about something that another person has done.
I'm not going to share too much more :) I like being anonymous here, and if I gave too many "not personal" details there is a chance someone could work out who I am (though I don't think I know anyone on here in real life)

Tinkerelle I tried the peppermint choc! I love it! Partner got the little mini snack size ones in the multi pack and I thought it was going to have like gooey chocolate in the middle so to find it was solid was a cool surprise haha look at me reviewing chocolate! lol!
Charly I also used to be cautious with hair colours etc and stay on the safe side until my friends son got leukemia and I shaved my hair off to fundraise - after that I realised - hey - its only hair! the beauty is it does grow out! haha :D since then iv gone nuts! lol
babygiraffe I also love marian keyes books! easy reads - also bryce courtney even though most of the story lines are ridiculously similar its the kind of book you can just pick up anytime and read and read and read... my parents used to have to remove my lightbulbs from my room to keep me from reading all night .. :/ haha

Haha Charly, change is always good. I've always been adventurous with my hair. I love going to the hair salon and getting new colours and styles. But since I haven't been working I don't have that spare $100-200 to spend on my hair. I was so pleased I found La Riche Directions hair dye off trademe. $16 and I can pick what ever colour I fancy and do it myself. My current colour is most outrageous I've gone - ever! When I first dyed it, was a shock wasn't expecting so bright and then it faded and I missed the bright colour so put through a colour called Cherise and I love it! I feel like people can see me a mile away, but I'm lucky it suits me really well. Next colour will be a blue over top so it gets that purple tinge. Can't wait!!!
Boys present ideas.... Trucks and tractors?? Blocks is a good idea, one can never have too many. Also books.

I buy my friend's babies an egg cup (from the Peter Rabbit collection) for their first birthdays. Its like 'my' thing now that their are so many kids lol. Practical but something they can treasure as well.
As for Marian Keyes - LOVE THAT LADY!!! She writes awesome books. Just read the Mystery at Mercy Close. Also love Jodi Picoult and just finished her book the Story Teller which is a read I'd highly recommend.

Yellow, I know! Getting your hair done is sooo spensy :( I'm lucky to have a good friend who owns a salon and I pay absolute minimum... $60-80 no matter what it is... It's 80 if I get hair coloured and my extensions put in or taken out! 60 if its just a cut/colour/blow dry etc... It's lovely of her!! I make sure I spoil her when I can.

Oooh, how are you finding The Host? I found it so hard to get into, and I only kept reading because DH kept saying it gets better. I was half way through the book before I found that point! So, yea, if you're only part way through and thinking "this is terrible", it is, just persevere because it does actually get better!

Yeah it's not fantastic but the more I read the more I get into it. Kindle says I'm 64% through it :-) I only thought to read it cos I saw previews of the movie & thought it looked good, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered as I'd heard it was crap lol

I used to listen to a bit of joss stone... Record stores only stock super popular (top 40) artists now it seems... Unless you have a jb hifi or maybe a warehouse with a decent music department? Mighty ape and iTunes are other options :) I buy everything on iTunes now... Crazy to think that I used to have to listen to music on a cassette only 20 years ago... Ok, that makes me sound waaayyy older than I am!! Lol

Lol Charly, I remember in highschool recording my fav songs from the radio onto cassette so I could listen to them in the car. Yeah that's what I figured, had my SIL check out the big stores in Hamilton for me with no luck. My ipod is on the way out so I still find it easier to listen to CD's... not to mention that we also lost our iTunes library when our harddrive died :/
