DH has given the go ahead to start ttc#3 soon but I have a wee dilemma - Im still breastfeeding DD2 and would prefer to keep doing so for a while longer, however it seems to be preventing me from having any sort of cycle. Im yet to have AF return, and after charting my BBT for 2 months, I didnt appear to ovulate.
I had similar with DD1, and had to wean her fully before I could conceive DD2.

Any suggestions of things to try?

Try getting hold of the book "Taking charge of your fertility" I'm sure libraries would have it. She has a huge amount of info in there, including charting before ovulation returns, which can help to predict when it will return.

Also, how old is your nursling? If she is old enough, you could work out which breastfeed she is least attached to, and attempt to phase that out, or try to estimate how long between feeds generally, and try stretching her out a little if possible, as ovulation all depends on particular hormones in your body managing to reach the correct level to trigger ovulation, and those hormones are obviously suppressed by the counter hormones produced in response to breastfeeding.

The only problem is, every woman is different, for example, my ovulation   hormones were only suppressed for about 3 months after birth each time, I breastfed continuously through my last 2 pregnancies and beyond.

It really is a matter of balancing up your daughters need for breastmilk, and what cutbacks she could cope with. It's a big experiment really. All the best.

Thanks Free2BeMe - DD2 is 15 months, she is feeding before bed at night and once overnight only (which are the feeds I want to continue with). DD1 was only having 50-100ml of EBM prior to me stopping, and it seemed to be enough to stop ovulation.
Ill see if I can hunt out that book :)

Wow, it is amazing that such a small amount of breastfeeding is stopping your ovulation! I am totally on the other end of the spectrum, was tandem breastfeeding a 2 yr old and 3 month old, around the clock, and still got my periods back...
Anyway, hopefully that book may help. GL with it all.
