I had Catherine Overfield for my second, she was good,Im not sure if she births at Auckland though.
Penelope Harrison...yeah,i've heard of her, people either really dislike or her really like her,I do know she births at Auckland though
The other one I haven't heard of....

I just had a look for you,the majority of East Auckland Midwives deliver at Middlemore or Botany, but Lisa Tattley and Wen Wei also deliver at Auckland.

I've birthed at both Botany and at Middlemore and have no problems with either, this one i'll be having at Middlemore because of a previous blood clot.
If you birth at Botany, you are more likely to have your own room which is nice :-D

Also, remember that some midwives appeal to some people and not others! I used the same one as a friend (who I get along with very well). As far as the midwife goes, though, she loved her, I wasn't too impressed and definitely waasn't getting her back for round 2. It's all about what works for you and the relationship you have.

I was pretty unhappy with the food at Middlemore, and my roommate had heaps visitors so I was thrilled to be transferred to Botany after a couple nights. Botany was lovely, especially with my own room.

Catherine Overfield was my midwife's backup, and was with me for the first few hours of my labour, she was fantastic.

I have heard lovely things about Catherine Overfield. I used Penelope Harrison and we got on great, I think it really depends on personality. She is extremely experienced. I birthed at Botany (didn't have time to get to Auckland!!) and it was lovely there. The staff were all very helpful and it has a lovely laid back atmosphere.

Midwife Lisa Tattley has been really amazing for me. I met her at birthcare when I was having a middle of the night crisis and she was a lifeline for me and really listened and helped me through major breastfeeding issues with my second child. Sue picked up on issues that had been missed by many others. She became my follow up care midwife and has been absolutely amazing, she is very experienced and knowledgeable and well connected to expert specialists and knows when to call these in for help. I would have no hesitation in recommending her and feel so lucky to have been under her care having had a bad experience with a midwife with my first child I really know how special Lisa is and what a difference good care makes.

Hi

I had Lisa Tattley as my midwife for my now 3 year old. I found her amazing, very caring, always on to it and made sure I had the best treatment and was well looked after.
My daughter had to be delivered by emergency C section in the end, but Lisa was there with me the whole way through and was amazing with my husband while I was in theatre.
I highly recommend her and am disappointed to hear someone had a bad experience with her as that is not the Lisa I know. I was also recommended to her from a mutual friend who used Lisa for both her children.

Lisa Tattley is an amazing midwife! She makes you feel so at ease and is so supportive of any type of birth you want to have. I didn't have the easiest birth but Lisa was wonderful and very supportive. After the birth and post birth care I didn't want to say goodbye!! Have recommended her to my friends and my sister is currently under her care. She will definitely be my first choice for hopefully baby number two one day!

Lisa Tattley is my midwife for my second baby and my first choice as she stepped in at the last minute after the birth of my first child. She has always listened and is available when I need support. I don't feel stupid asking questions or discussing anything I am worried about. I would recommend her.

I personally found Lisa Tattley to be amazing! She was warm caring and went above and beyond. Not only was she very knowledgeable but she treated you like a friend not another patient. She listens to you and respects your choices and supports you in the decision you decide on. I went through 2 mid wives before finding Lisa and couldn't be happier with her. I don't think I would of been able to have a natural birth without her. She stayed for the full 17 hours at hospital with me! Not many mid wives would do that. I can highly recommend her :)

Hi Mums-to-be

For those who haven't secured a midwife to pleeeeease make sure you do your homework. You need to find someone who will make THE most lifechanging experience you'll ever have, the best it can possibly be.

I too was dropped by a certain midwife at 33wks, which caught me off guard & in distress, trying to pick up and move on when I was heavily pregnant. Still get the shakes thinking about it.

I just hope you find the best midwife that will suit you & your family.

I used Lisa Tattley for my sons birth 31/10/2020 and times haven’t changed lol - doubt it’s a total coincidence all the positive reviews came through on the same day mins apart from each other - honestly typical. She is all about the money with little to no work. She wasn’t at my birth until it was an emergency situation & didn’t turn up to multiple appointments including my due date one. I wrote a complaint to the Midwifery Council as she talked to me about other clients breaking confidentiality rules. You can say it’s a personality thing but in my experience I think it’s a laziness thing. I had to self admit myself to hospital because she wouldn’t do her job properly if I didn’t do that I don’t think I’d be here today or my baby. Sad really and not acceptable in this day and age. Time for a change of career Lisa.
