My husband and I both work in South Auckland but we live on the Shore. I was holding off as my job wasn't permanent but now it is and I intend to stay there a while. We have been doing some research about places to potentially move and we like the look of the Flatbush area not too far away from our jobs and seems like a nice community there.

Does anyone from here live in Flatbush who could tell me what it's like? Anyone who can reccomend a good daycare there? It is scary doing a big move like that and I am worried about crime rates as I know there are some less desriable suburbs near by. Do I need to be?

Any feedback about it appreciated :)

I live in Flat Bush :) I like it here, close to Botany, Motorway, Manukau and Airport, sure you get aircraft noise but you start not to notice it after a while and the kids love waving to the planes :)

Barry Curtis Park and Buddhist Temple is up the road and Botanical Gardens is 5mins on the motorway :)

My daughter goes to newly opened (Feb) Daycare on Arranmore Drive and theres 3 along Ti Irirangi Drive.

I have friends there and they love it. Lots of nice outdoors space there and it seems like a nice community. Go a bit further out to Whitford (plus a few more $$$$) and it's like living in the country, also an awesome community. Pony Club, Calf days etc.

I think crime is everywhere really, no greater or lesser chance than anywhere else, just take all the usual steps to not be seen as an easy target.
