I need some advice from you lovely ladies. We have a 2 year old and we have been trying for a sibling for her for around a year now. I have a gene mutation called BRCA2 which means I have an 80% chance of getting breast cancer and earlier on too. I will be getting a bi lateral mastectomy done - and what I ideally wanted to do was have another baby and get it done so I could bf, but yea, doesnt seem to be happening that way.
I am having a tough time at the mo with depression and other health issues and have been put on medication that is unsafe to take during pregnancy. So our baby plans have been put on hold.
What I would like your thoughts on is what would you guys do? Would you wait till you were off the meds (which may be never) and try again (which could take years) have another bubba then mastectomy or would you have mastectomy, get better then try for bubba and not be able to bf.
I have no adversion to formula btw - my daughter was ff from 3 months
sorry for novel too lol

Im really sorry to hear you story. I think you need to be well first which means either off meds or mastectomy. That way you will have a better chance at having and looking after a baby. I'm not sure how long it takes to recover from a mastectomy but if you have 2 children it may be even harder.
Only you know the best thing for you and this is only 1 opinion. I hope a miracle happens and you get pregnant before having to make a decision.

Only you can really make that choice but if it was me, Id go for mastectomy then baby, having a friend with the same brca gene and she went from stage 2 breast cancer to stage 4 in a matter of months, cancer is nasty and Id want that risk gone
Breast feeding versus an 80% cancer risk, Id give up breast feeding, health is far more important.
Good luck with your decision, its not going to be easy xx

Thank you guys for your advice, its just a hard decision for me to make, but I really think I agree with you guys. We already have a toddler, and if she is an only child then so be it :)
