Can anyone recommend the Baby Alive doll? I’ve heard mixed reviews, some say they are great, some say they are a waste of money and too messy…. There are a couple of different versions out there and I was looking at the original $99 one that eats, talks and poos… I wanted to give my 2.5 year old a special doll/baby for when her baby sister arrives in 4 weeks times. Is this the best doll to get or perhaps another one??

Thanking you!!

I am so frustrated with dolls! Sorry, no help on the Baby Alive one. I ended up getting one made by K's kids (the model is now discontinued) that is soft and has a removable nappy and an activity blanket. But it seems like there's no choice in types, they are all plastic and Baby Alive does seem to be the most popular type.

Just make sure whatever you get doesn't mind being dunked in bath/toilet/paddling pool - and that anything with 'in' and 'out' holes will have incontinence problems for a while after!

I just got a fully plastic one from warehouse, cheap and cheerful and will do the job, its a good size too. She plays with it now, takes off the material nappy and goes 'poooooo' Will pop it away before the baby arrives, so its like a new thing.

Im a cheap skate that doesnt see the point in paying a fortune for something that will get forgotten in 6 months or so

Baby Alive freaks me out - but that is just me, she reminds me of "Chucky"

I agree with LSL - Warehouse is great for dolls, get a hard body one $20 and maybe a baby bath and some bottles so she can bath/feed at the same time as you - and these ones from the warehouse "almost" fit real new born nappies and clothes (much cheaper that toy nappies and clothes)

I agree with the Warehouse too - for my friends daughters birthday (just before their 2nd bub was due) I got a hard plastic doll from the warehouse and it came with a pack with a couple of bottles, nappies and change of clothes. Her Mum said it was a god sent as she was able to do everything with the doll Mummy did with the new baby without worrying. And her DD loved it :)

1stBABY4me - not sure if you have bought anything yet, but if you have access to KMart I saw the best set yesterday for $35 - hard body baby with a bath and nappies and bath toys, and they also have "eating" sets with a bottle and bowl and spoon

Your little girl will love experiencing the fun of real babies when she helps this doll brush her teeth and get all ready for a nighttime snuggle. She can give her baby doll a bottle, change her diaper when she wets, and then get her all dressed in her adorable clothes.
