Reposted from the nappy section which seems to be a bit dead
Just wondering if anybody had tried the Rockin Green washing detergent, in particular the Funk rock Ammonia Bouncer (could they have found a more stupid name?)
I am so sick of the smell of my nappy bucket and also can never seem to get rid of the smell after washing the nappies so am considering getting some. I find it quite expensive though would really like some feedback.
Am also open to any other suggestions how to deal with the pee smell!

haven't tried but had to regularly strip my nappies to get rid of the smell. Can't remember how to do this but nappynetwork.co.nz or org.nz has all the info and maybe post your question on there. Full of cloth nappy mamas.
Stripping would work for short periods of time, but mine would always get stinky again regardless of what i did.

I just got it and have found it good. I do like the Rockin Green products though! I have strip washed with it and the nappies have come up really well. I had the same issue with the pee smell so I've started using the Funk one and I was surprised at how much difference it made.
I'd recommend it!

I use the funk rock whenever they get a bit whiffy (instead of stripping) and use normal RG for normal washes...the FR seems to work ok, and way less effort than stripping properly

My nappies don't smell... Do they start smelling when baby gets older/onto formula or solids? Sorry, that might sound like a silly question, but I've wondered that for a while.

I just use normal RG and never had any smell. SO much better than any other detergent I've tried.

Lots of places sell it online now. Tweedle, cheeky cherubs, chic cheeks, ittibitti etc.
I like both the normal one and the de-funker. It is more expensive so I sort to alternate between peril sensitive and RG. And yeah, the de-funker is great. I found that the older kids get stinkier worse/faster because the urine is more concentrated. My theory anyway. But I do have to de-stink my 2 year olds nappies far more often than my 5 month old.
