At what point in your labour did your MW start giving you antibiotics?
I have heard numerous things but am keen to hear others experiences?
At this stage, my MW said to wait a few hours after my waters have broken, but I'm thinking I'm going to want them asap!
Thanks!

I was induced in hospital and got the IV antibiotics once my waters broke...not exactly sure of the timing though. Not very helpful! Sorry! I'll look up my notes tomorrow and check...

Hmmm I'm not sure, I got the drip in my hand when I first got in there, was handy cause I needed fluids & I think they broke my waters later on and did it around then, I'm really not too sure.

both times I had a lure in my hand and had it injected when I went past 4cm (about 4 hours before the birth in both cases)

I got told to go to hospital as soon as my waters broke as best to have it within an hour (I think from memory). But they didn't break and I went to hospital at 8cm dilated lol. Got the first dose then and the next one I think 6 hrs later. Ended up with IV antibiotics through a lure over the next 24 hrs as well as developed a non-specific fever after delivery (which turned out may have been a side effect of the drugs I was given in surgery - but they were playing it safe.
I tested negative for strep B before getting preg and then positive at about 30 weeks so don't rely on an early negative test either - you might get asked to do another one (plus it is optional and so are the anti-bs - but strongly recommended for bubs benefit if you are positive).
