Hiya

I am taking 14 weeks paid parental leave soon and then not going back to work after (as my contract ends after PPL). I will probably have 8 ish weeks left on PPL once bubs is born, will I qualify for anything from WFF? How does it work?

Thanks in advance

you can get wff payments while on ppl. You would also get the in work tax credit while on pppl because it is hours you would "normally work"

WFF all depends on how much you earn, so not sure if you will get much or any with only 1 child.

You would be better off on the DPB, think it pays more than the PPL.

The cut off is around 70k for 1 child and it doesn't take into account what you have earn't in the year before having the child - ppl is $458.82 as per http://www.ird.govt.nz/yoursituation-ind/parents/parents-paid-parental-leave.html so that plus any wfftc entitlement which could be $148ish would be more then the dpb? call ird hun they will let you know what you can do.

Also if I remember correctly you can ring them up to get WFF & they will give it to you straight away when baby is born & give you a few weeks to get an IRD number for baby.

Thanks all! I rang IRD and yep, it's definiteley worth getting PPL with WFF for those weeks after baby is born before I go on the DPB.
