Hi there,
I have a big 10 week old girl who has always been bottle fed. She is on the same formula from birth, and suddenly she is not that interested in eating. She will take the bottle but after about 60-80 mls that is it. My question is should i change her on to the next atage teat...which i have done previously however it causes her to have bad wind and she spills quite bad...So my dilemma is do I change it so she eats more but spills more and is uncomfy? or do I fight the battle of her refusing?
Secondly how long do you think a 10 week old should be awake? Tizzie Hall says 2 hours, but the other people say about 1 hour?..HELP PLEASE

I would give next speed teats a shot, my 4wk old is similar - bad reflux & very windy. Had to move him from boob to bottle because it was so bad. He is on a 2mth old size teat as the NB size was just too slow for him. This also improved his wind & spilling hugely, as i think he was taking on too much air with the slower teats.
In regards to the wake/sleep, throw the book out of the window! Every baby is different, my first barely woke up at all except for feeds for the first 12-16 wks. My second is awake all day nearly, and does a fantastic 8 hour stretch at nights. I put my first onto Tizzie Halls routines after she was one, but I think when they are so little, as long as they are happy, who cares how much they are awake during the day - so long as they aren't awake at night!

Can't comment on the teat issue but on the waking/sleeping, the best advice I ever got was "sod the books, the baby hasn't read them".
From memory an hour was pretty much the longest DS could stay awake in one go at ten weeks, (and most of that was spent feeding), it increased over time but he didn't get to the two hour mark until at least 5 months. Sleepy baby!!

I tried to not keep DD up more than 2 hours when she was that little but I would say just watch for the sleepy signs, zoning out/dozing off/rubbing eyes/getting cranky.. if they're tired, put them to bed (and then yourself! lol) but like someone else ssid, every baby is different :)
Can't help with the teat sorry!

I would try changing the teat size. My twins were FF'd and we changed the teat size approx every 3 months or so. From memory none of my 4 kids were up for more then an hour-hour and a quarter at 10 weeks.

try changing the teat size, baby might also just be going through a non drinking phase
Awake time for a 10week old, I'd say no more than 1.5hr more likely to be about 1hr 15min, but each baby and each day is different, you will figure it out, at work i can usually tell babys been up to long if theyre hard to settle in bed, and wake after one sleep cycle
If i get them to bed on time they go down well and have a decent sleep

It's so true that all babies have very different sleep needs - there's no set rule. But around an hour and a half awake time at that age is about right. As someone else said, watch out for those tired signs too, as each day can be different - depending on how baby's slept at night.
Good luck!
