So I had the idea for us to share our favourite wine.

BBQ season is here and I am looking for something easy to drink. Not wanting to spend much more than $15 and less is welcome

I can hardly remember what I used to drink as it was 2 1/2 years ago. I can remember liking Stoneleigh and Shingle Peak Sav Blanc and reisling. I see that they are around $25

I have noticed since not drinking for so long my tastes have changed going back to something more light and fruity. It is annoying to spend the $$ open the bottle and taste it then think yuk. So what do you like?

This is one I've bought and thought was good recently

Banrock Station - Moscato frizzante - fruity slight bubble best quite cold. Love that its liter in alcohol as am out of practice and feel the effects pretty quick now. Its also under $10!

Countdown/Foodtown had Nikau Point Syrah on special for weeks at between $7.99 and $9.99, and it is beautiful. Unfortunately it's back up to about $18 now, but I'll be on the lookout for it to come back on special!

What a great thread. I never want to pay more than $15 (and preferably less) for a bottle of wine. I quite like the Lindaur sparkling pinot gris but I might try your suggestion Jules. That Moscato sounds like my sort of thing! Actually so does the Nikau Point Syrah!

I may be showing my lack of class here, but for bubbly I think it can be hard to go past Lindauer - esp when some of the nicer ones like the blanc de blanc are on special. I also quite liked the lindauer sav which you could always pick up somewhere for $9.95.

I also quite like The Ned sav blanc which you can pick up for under $15 when it's on special.

I recommend:
From Australia: Banrock station, or Wynns.
From France: La Châsse, but if you want light and fruity it should be an Italian Chianti but that is probably more than $15.

I love the 2010 (and 2008 but you cant get it) Villa Maria Gewurtztraminer. Pak n Save has had it on special for $14 a few times. The 2010 Pinot Gris from Villa Maria is another favourite of ours.
@jules1980, that Muscato is good huh? I do find I end up drinking more of it since its so easy to drink though!

If anyone (particularly Aucklanders) is into Port, Mazurans on Lincoln road does some really nice ones.

see here i was thinking i would be able to rattle off a huge list (i love wine but am a complete tightarse 90% of the time) but apparently not drinking for 4 months has wiped my memory

so all i can come up with is the Mudhouse Sav Blanc or Pinot Gris!

fab thread though - will have to check back in here next year for some ideas!

Oh man I'm such a wine snob. I can't even remember the last time I brought a bottle under $15.
Although I do have a bottle of Waipara Reisling that I think I saw on sale in countdown for under $15. Very drinkable!
I blame my in-laws they are far to into good wine for my good.

Man alive, I miss wine so so bad. I'd drink any old cheap plonk now, if I could. (Still has to be a sav though. Strictly no chardonnay!)

I love St Clair, pretty much anything from them is great, but they do a great sav bubbly which was on special at New World for $10,
I also love Wither Hills Sav which is over $15 but often on Special.
My trick is to pick something that normally retails for over $15 but is on special for under then you know you are getting a good one.
