Hi all,
Today my little girl is 5 months!

She even slept in this morning (she got up at 7am, not 6 like normal)

However normally half an hour to an hour after the first feed of the day she gets tired and I put her down for a nap. She sleeps anywhere from half an hour to an hour, then she is bright and bubbly and ready to start the day properly.

I tried to put her down at 8am, but she wouldn't have a bar of it - so after about 10-15mins I got her up and we played, had a feed, played some more, then she started to get grumpy and tired.

Right time for bed! Then the screaming began. 45mins it took to get her to sleep!

Patting, shushing, singing, leaving the room, staying with her, swaddling, un-swaddling, she was inconsolable. I swear the neighbors must have thought I was doing something horrible to her.

In the end I called my husband to come home from work, I just couldn't cope anymore.

She finally went to sleep with me rocking her in my arms, fully swaddled.

Now she is up again, DH is feeding her and I'm going to have a shower (and probably a little cry)

I haven't felt this frazzled since she was a newborn. *sigh*

Sorry about the rant, I just really needed to vent. I'm feeling really crap. I wish I knew why she is so screamy today.

Thanks for listening,

N00b

Moving teeth? Bit of a virus lurking under the surface? Just having a crap day? So many reasons why, so hard to work it out. Sounds like you did everything you could to help her so shes a lucky girl!!

Yay for such a supportive DH Hope you had a lovely shower and the rest of the day evens out abit hun

Agree with Babe, sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason for everything going pear shaped but it could well be a tooth moving around making her super unsettled.

http://www.thesleepstore.co.nz/sleep-information/infant-sleep/sleep-information/introduction-to-babies-4-to-12-months - Here is a link to some info from The Sleepstore that might help. 5 months is a common time for sleeping to change.

Big hugs to you! We also had sleeping patterns change at around 4/5 months. Definitely recommend reading all the Sleeptore articles on sleep as danda mentioned - I learnt alot from them!

Hi all,
Thanks for all your kind words.

Will totally read those articles - also getting DH to read them too so we can have a consistent approach to sleep in our house.

Fingers crossed all goes well.

The past few days have been better (but only just, and only because DH has been home - he has Wed & Thurs off work, not looking forward to Friday!)

Big hugs to all, and much thanks again - it is nice to know I can vent.

Big hugs,

N00b
