I know there's a difference, but I can't remember. Can somebody please fill me in on nightmares and night terrors in wee babes??

Ashlee has half woken up grizzling a couple of times in the night like she's scared and I'm wondering do I go in there and comfort her, or do I just leave her to dream out the dream by herself? She hasn't fully woken, so I've left her both times, but she sounds so distressed! Wondering if it's nightmares or terrors and can't remember the difference.

TIA!!

Wow! Thanks for the link Baalamb. Our second child quite frequently wakes up screaming and can't be clamed down and always seems spaced out. He also never remembers waking up. We thought he was just over dramatic and his dad gets a little upset at him as he quite often wakes up our youngest. But now I can show him this link and explain in poor kid. It's horrible watching and hearing it is'nt it!

Paris used to do that a heap and i t was freaky as, she still does and you will go in there, her eyes open, but she's not coherent, all you can do is massage her head till she closes those eyes and she's out to it, if you try to calm her, or talk to her she screams louder and goes feral on you and basically attacks you. Mike got his feelings hurt once cos she started screaming at him to go away i don't love you.. i went in and she did the same thing, lol. she also quite often will turn up beside our bed, really wide eyes, in the middle of the night, not talking not anything - we just put her back to bed and that's it. (freaky to wake up to see her staring at you though.. especially cos her eyes are damn near big enough anyway.. without being all googly)

Yeah, I don't think Ashlee's were terrors after reading that, she just had a bad dream. She didn't have the whole freaky open eye thing going on.

Must be pretty freaky for you mums (and dads)!!
