I have been expressing for the freezer supply for a while now,   I have never missed a feed but it was all for that *just in case* DH needed a bottle one day to give him, if I was out.   Overtime have used some of that milk in solids, and practicing with a bottle.  So have tried replenishing stocks, but lately have noticed my supply just isnt the same as it was and im lucky if I can get 30mls in the morning if anything.  Just wondering is anyone else expressing for backup supply with a bubba similar age or older, or anyone with older children, did you ever have a supply in the freezer at this age?

I expressed between 100 - 200ml a day, which was plenty for a feed if I was out. I probably stopped about the age your baby is, and then stopped BF a few months after that. My supply settled down once DS started to drop his daytime feeds, so I didnt have enough to express.

It is pretty hard going expressing when you don't do it regularly. If you want to keep working at it, I was told by a wonderful lactation consultant to do 5 mins each side and do that twice and try not to look at how much is coming out!

I started back at work when DD was 14wks. I do 3hrs in the morning 3 days a weeks so I'm only missing one feed. Last month I went through a period where I was struggling to pump a full feed when I was due to. I was also only getting 30ml +/- in the mornings. I persevered and pumped what I could after she fed and also started eating and drinking more. I found expressing by hand after the pump meant I could get a few more mls which helped stimulate more milk production down the track. After a couple of weeks I had a healthy supply in the freezer.
It never hurts to have some backup supplies in the freezer. Besides work I am hoping to develop a social life one day and maybe get to go out for dinner with DH
