I wish I could offer tips on this - seperation anxiety is making life very difficult for our whole family. My son is 7 months old and often won't let anyone but me hold him, he also cries whenever he is put down. He has a serious medical condition and has spent alot of time in hospital so it's not suprising that he doesn't trust people but it means that I never get a break. I have a 2 year old also and I feel guilty that he often has to miss out on one on one time with me.

Get a baby carrier and wear them when you need to get things done

I second the carrier suggestion. Ds loves to be with me so I wear him. No crying or screaming. And I still get things done.
Also if you are going anywhere without them prepare them for it. Tell them you are going out but will be back. They will realise that even if you o you WILL come back, and learn to trust you. Imo its mean to leave while they are not looking and they don't kow where you have gone. It was suggested to me soooooo many times .

I was hoping there would be some good suggestions in here. My girls have recently started fulltime daycare (they were in 4 days a fortnight prior) and one of my girls is NOT adjusting well. She had an insane meltdown when I left on Thursday, including screaming and hitting her head against the walls. I stayed the next morning until she was semi happy for me to go (25 mins later) but she still wasn't happy (and yes, I did sneak out while she was distracted - it was the only way I could actually leave to go to work). The carers usually don't like it, but as I had said goodbye, and given her a kiss and a cuddle and said I would be back, they were fine with it otherwise I would never have got out. Now she won't let me out of her sight, and wants cuddles all the time (just not practical when you're a single working mum!!!). I tell her that I will pick her up this afternoon and give her a kiss and a cuddle and tell her mummy loves her. She has always loved daycare prior to this, and has been attending the same one for the last 7 months.
