Hi,
DD has just turned two. She is a very competant speaker, using up to 10 words at a time. Generally she has great comprehension and good clear diction.
However, over the last few days she has been stuttering over her first word in her sentence. From what I know this might be a normal thing. I know some of you are speech therapists, should I go and get it checked? If so, where do I go for help?
Thanks

Lots of children of this age go through a phase of stuttering and it spontaneously resolves. It only becomes a concern when it lasts longer than 6 months, and/or there is a family history or there are other associated features such as facial grimaces, hand flapping etc. If it does continue you can self refer to the Ministry of Education - Special Education for an assessment.

Just what freckle said
Daniel stuttered from 3, and still does so we have done a self referal and he's being seen by an SLT. It usually corrects itself
