Just adding this in to see if anyone else shares my dilemma or has been through it...

G & T are just about old enough to go without their day sleeps, usually in the weekend if it's been a quiet day they don't have one and then sleep from 6-7pm. However when they do have an active day they get really tired and do need one, they will usually sleep for about 1.5-2 hours. The only thing is that after this sleep they are up until 9 or 10 at night! We still put them to bed at around 8:30 (latest) but they are awake for yonks! I went to bed before they were asleep last night... at 9:30!

We have been in this stage for at least 6 months now...

Is this normal? Is there something I can do??

Perhaps don't let them sleep so long when they do..little 20 minute power nap and wake them up? Don't know but a suggestion..

Flag the daysleep. Seriously, it is not worth it. Plan some quiet time, reading books, something low key at their usual nap time.

yip I would drop the daysleep and have quiet time. While they get used to this you could always put them to bed earlier in the evening

I battled this for a few months before I finally gave in and dropped the day sleep. The first week or so I had to actively keep DD awake - I kept her busy with activities over the time when she would have otherwise been asleep. After that she just got into a rythm where she was having enough sleep at night (from falling asleep so much earlier) so didn't need sleep during the day. It was so much easier than what I had imagined and I wondered why I battled for so long to get DD to sleep at night instead of just cutting out the day sleep when she clearly didn't need it.

Yep def drop the day sleep. Dd was exactly the same. I did the same as Shelt, kept her busy. Some nights she is in bed at 5.30 .

we are the same here - if eden has a day nap then she is up really late. It wont to have an earlier bed time if they are really tired.
