Hi there
I would love to hear about all the cool ways you have told your husband or family that you are pregnant! I would love to steal some of your ideas for when my time comes! thanks!

I just yelled very excitedly at my DH to come into the bathroom. Then he had no idea what he was looking at (the testing stick and the blue lines).
I was going to skype my parents with a pic of the scan but they decided to go on holiday that weekend so instead we just told them they were going to be grandparents.
I told my sister via twitter and my colleagues via email (though I told my boss to his face).
Not very inventive, sorry.

We were on holiday in NZ at my best friend's place and I told her that if AF didn't arrive on the morning we were going to leave then she can test my wee haha. So she hid in the bathroom for the WHOLE 5 mins before coming out. She got DH and I to sit down and gave us a lecture about how babies get made when they're ready etc. Then told us we had 2 lines. Best way to find out EVER! I don't know how she managed to contain herself for the whole 5 mins.
Then on the long flight home we kept asking DD "what did mummy and daddy make in New Zealand?" and taught her to say "a baby!" and that was how we told my parents.
Told a few close friends through facebook PM, then the big announcement with a scan pic on FB after 12 weeks.
When we found out we were pregnant with our first, we were living in NZ, dad was in Perth and mum was in nz. Dad was planning to surprise mum by coming home early. SO after all that excitement calmed down I gave mum a card apologising for all the fibs we had to tell her over the last week, including the one where she said I looked washed out and I told her I had AF again (we'd been TTC for a while). Then I showed them a positive pregnancy test.

Cool thread!
First time round we told our parents by inviting them all to dinner...And then when we said grace DH prays "God bless all 8 of us (one extra than were actually at the table) etc etc....HA HA it took them ages to get it. DH's mum was all like "oh that salad looks good, please pass the dressing" HA HA HA.
Second time around we made a t-shirt for DD to wear that said "Big Sister" on it. That was pretty cool too.

my first 2 were just a test then an omg come look! to the fathers (oldest is from prior marriage) or a text to family/friends (although with DD I rang one of my friends who'd found out the month before that she was preg, and I was almost in tears and all i could say was '2 lines' over and over again... luckily we'd been on a TTC forum for a loong time together so she knew, and she started bawling too (good old preggy hormones!) then HER DH wanted to know who'd died cos she was crying on the phone )
With my last, I wrapped up a little growsuit and the test and gave it to DP as an early birthday pressy (I couldnt keep it quiet for another 5 days!) We agreed to keep it quiet til after first scan as not many people knew we were TTC again (his family just expected that I was going to go back to work!) but he was too excited and couldnt help blabbing on FB... so I made some little comment on my page and waited for people to click... that was 13 months ago so i have NO idea what I said lol!

We wrote a letter to his parents asking that they start build the rocking horse that they had always talked about. But it took soo friggin long that we ended up ringing them. We asked my parents around (they live in the same town) and told them. Mum had already figured it out. Siblings were told over the phone, my sister couldn't figure out why we were asking her if she was ready to be an Aunt... Lol. Love the idea of the shirt for #2.... must note that down for next time

Only thing we did a little different was at Xmas time, I had one of the girls on OB create two onesies for me one with I "heart" Nana and I "heart" Grandad on them, wrapped them up and gave them on Xmas day. They both opened them and took a minute before realising we were telling them we were were having a baby!! It was pretty cool. Oh and it was my parents we were giving them to.

for our first we made a tee shirt that i wore with OVBUNEN (bun in oven) Mil stared at it for ages before bursting into tears
For our 2nd we made her a tee that said Bs2b - big sister to be. As you can see our families are big on word puzzles

We had been overseas on holiday, and had missed MIL's 50th bday. (by about a week). So when we got back, and got our bfp, we went up to there house for dinner, for the missed bday. And got her a bday card, that said happy birthday grandma. hehe. It took her a few minuets to click.
I plan to do the t-shirt thing for #2 Too cute!!!

I was thinking of getting Cooper a t-shirt which say I'm going to be a big brother & wear it to see how long it would take Alia to click.
I'm planning on telling my parents this weekend by saying can they look after the kids on thursday cause I need to go get a scan & then see if they click lol

haha, lets see, with my first I did a test at Botany, dark red lines, through the test in the bin and went with my bestmate to get coffee, wondering how I could possibly tell my parents that their 19 year old daughter was pregnant to a guy she'd been with for about 2months.
With Ty I was on the Two week wait thread and they suggested I do a test, nothing came up straight away, then a couple of minutes later there was a faint line,I rang my mother to come up and see the test and I asked her if she could see the line and she pointed at the control line and said "you mean this one?"
I text DH,he was most impressed (erm,not)
And Mila I did a test at Botany and Babykatz was the first one to see it haha, but cos I had PROMISED Dh that I would tell him first next time,I had to pretend when he got home that I "thought" I might be pregnant and showed him the test I had done pretending id only JUST done it.
That lie didn't last long,I ended up telling him at Botany one day when we were in the same toilets,he just thought it was funny.
So really unoriginal ways I must say.
Oh and if anyone is familiar with botany,I did the test with C at the toilets that are near Pagani, and the test with Mila in the parents room, not the one near the foodcourt, the other one...so if you are ever in those toilets you can think "Kelly peed here"

you know what kelly, i think i might still have that pxt floating around somewhere lol.
I managed to keep it from DP for almost 2 whole days (of course everyone in charting thread and my bestie already knew lol!!) while I waited for something stronger than shadow-y lines... but I couldnt hold off another 6 days!

Heck, how did you manage that?? I woke DH up at 3am when I found out about Jacob (he was excited... once he worked out what I was saying ). This second one was a little more of a surprise, because although we weren't preventing anything happening, we weren't 'trying' either (as in 'oh, did we actually BD recently' not trying!). I tested just before I was going to meet him for lunch anyway, and I forget what I said but it was something pretty stunned and unoriginal.

didnt do anything exciting when telling dh the 3 older boys,
but about an hr b4 i got my bfp with emmett I had bought a little size 0 my 1st christmas top thinking if i was pregnant it would fit the baby perfectly the following xmas(was due Jan). did a test very early wasnt actually expecting it to be a bfp at all so was very happily surprised, I had txted my closest friends with in minutes, but Dh I waited a few days to tell. I pulled out the stuff i had bought that day and started showing him some stuff(I do it all the time so nothing new there) I pulled out the xmas top and said that it was a perfect sign from above coz it will fit our baby perfectly next xmas. took a minute but he clicked eventually lol.

With DS1 had been to the doc's for a check up and to discuss possibly going on fertility drugs, told her i was feeling unwell e.t.c did a preg. test just in case. So suprised it was positive. DH was waiting for me outside. I walked out crying and handed him the bounty pack which says "pregnancy" on the front. He cried.
Told family shortly afterwards.
DS2 Told Dh he's gonna be a dad again. But i wasn't convinced so did 5 more tests and bloods just to be sure! Told family at a family lunch, there were cheeses e.t.c on teh table said "ohh yum but i can't eat that". Everyone knew right away.
With number 3 i think i'll do a t shirt for the boys to wear such a cute idea.

We waited for the 12w mark, 13w happened to be mothers day, so all the grand mothers & great-grandmothers to be got some flowers with a pic from our NT scan - the message on the back said 'Can't wait to meet you in November for Kisses & cuddles' - took AGES for some of the family to work it out (even though my name was on the scan!)
DH - I just greeted him at the window demanding he come inside before playing with his dogs, I couldn't wait to do something different for him!

Nothing exciting here, but one thing I want to do next time is to use a cake to announce the sex! I read somewhere about someone baking a cake, colouring it blue or pink, then icing the whole lot so it can't be seen. Then cutting with with friends/family to announce whether its a girl or a boy!

Yea, I've heard in America the craze is to get the scanner to write the sex on a piece of paper in an envelope, and give it to the bakery, so that even the parents don't know what colour they're expecting the cake to be when they cut it. Kind of fun!

We were at a family dinner for our Nans birthday and hubby got up to announce that we were pregnant, our extended family are pretty excitable and there was screaming, tears and hugs all around, priceless :)

First time round we just told the family straight out.
This time, I made a t-shirt like the one Hopes has posted and put it on DS.
It took DH a while to get it.
We emailed a pic of DS in it to the IL's, they got it pretty much straight away.
I put DS in it when my parents were down and it took about half an hour for them to actually read it

First time round we just told immediate family and close friends. My best friend happened to be having a birthday so her card was written from me, DH and bump. She screamed...still a little bit deaf.
This time round I gave my mum a positive pg test for mothers day, 20 minutes after confirming it for myself (would have been sooner but was waiting for DH to get home to tell him first). Also gave my sisters a pregnancy test in an envelope telling them Id got them a present. One sister guessed before even opening it!
Everyone else was just told - boring!

I never did anything creative.. I think both times I was in a bit of shock.
If there ever were to be another one I would totally have to paint something on my belly, like a tiny wee baby growing inside...

I did a sneaky test at work, once I got to Day 31 of my cycle. Didn't tell DH but did a second test and let him watch the result (me already knowing - I know naughty!)
Dad was about to build us a new house - we told Mum and Dad we were going to have an extra occupant for the house. Took them a little while to click.
Love the cake idea!
Also my Mum and Dad are having their 40th wedding anniversary soon. If I can get UTD before then, I might put in the newspaper - "Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary, love from Sarah, Craig, Brooke, and Gus II." (Gus was the nickname for our first bump!)

I remember after showing my DH the positive test of the baby we miscarried, he went pale and said "two lines- is that twins???". My poor hubby didn't have a clue how pregnancy tests worked
