My 12 month old has been such an awesome feeder since she was born, but as of Friday she just refuses to feed off me, she was latching and sucking a few times and then coming off crying. Now doesn't even try to latch. It is very stressful! I took her to GP on Friday and today, but she couldn't see anything obvious (I have lost my voice and have a scratchy throat so there is a possibility she may have something similiar further back in her throat the GP couldn't see). So she has gone from 4+ feeds a day to none . I have gotten advice from a lactation consultant who was very supportive, but I wanted to know if anybody has had a similar experience and managed to start feeding again? I feel a bit heartbroken about it

Is there any chance you are pregnant ? Dd cut down her feeds to 1 a day just before I found out I was preggers. Have you tried ringing someone from LLL ? They may be able to help and/or know someone who has been through it

My 1 month old son is doing exactly the same thing, obviously he's not in anywhere near as much as a routine as your 12 month old, but he was feeding fine until a few days ago. Now I'm having to top him up with formula after every feed because he gives up so quickly and doesn't get full! Very stressful...

Thanks Pudgy - I have talked to a couple of LLL ladies. Don't think I am UTD.

Usually child led weaning is slower and more gradual while bf strikes are more sudden .

No RJ. Think AF is on her way.
Weaning is more gradual, this is an out right strike. And she is not happy about it either! If she was weaning she would happily refuse not start screaming. Have talked to 3 lactation consultants and they are pretty positive she will come back to feeding, just hard to see it.
She just had a big drink of my milk out of a plastic cup, very messy! That is the most she has had all week so hopefully she realises it would be easier just to drink from the source!
