Hi,
Have also posted this in the Planning pregnancy section but thought not everyone might see it so posting it here too.
I am due for my next Depo Jab on the 14th of July but DP and I have decided we'd like to start TTC #2 instead. I have had a total of 3 jabs and this would have been my 4th...
Does anyone know if it has lasting effects or builds up in your body?
What are you experiences?
Cheers.

Well, i was on depo for 4 years running. I couldnt get to the Dr for the next jab for a week or two and somehow managed to get pregnant in that window. I'm pretty sure there is one other member here (look in the suprise pregnancy thread in pregnancy) who had the same thing happen. Though i asked about it when i got jabbed again after DS was born and they said it takes the length of protections life span (3months in this case) to 'wear off' and things to get regular again. I would suggest booking the appointment for the doc and asking. They shouldnt charge you because its 'sexual health' and i think you're under 25

Yes i was told 3 months for it to wear off properly. But also told it can take over 2 years for everything to go back to normal.
I guess the sooner you get your period etc the better. But it can take a while for it to be regular

Cool thanks!
Am going to see the doctor next week to discuss it all and pre pregnancy stuff as I need to have some blood tests done anyway!
Yup under 25 so should be free!

lol Bowie thats what happened with my first, last Jab was mid Dec (I only remember that as his birthday was almost exactly 1 year after that jab!), concieved end of March I'd only been on it for 12 months though. Midwife with him believes I miscarried the month prior as I'd had what I thought was the whole years worth of periods bundled up into one! Bit off really considering that would have been within the 12 week 'safe' window after a jab
With Jae I'd been on it for 3 years solid, last jab was Jan, concieved July (lost that one, and the next one a month after that, seems to be a common trend in conceiving too soon after depo, I know of 2 others it has happened to!) took another year after the last mc to conceive again, but that was nothing to do with Depo.

For me it took almost a year to get AF back after my last jab, but once I did I was UTD within two months . I'd been on it for maybe three years?

Thanks guys!
MT, A friend went on Depo and bled everyday so they said usually on the 2nd/3rd jab it stops... Didn't for her! She was so annoyed!
Good to hear everyone else's stories, very appreciated so thank you very much!
