my daughter is 2.5 weeks olds and has jus had a sudden onset of what i think is colic...
she screams just after i feed her and its like someones hurting her and i cant help but cry when she does it breaksmy heart to see/hear her like this... my eldest had mild colic but never screamd my 2 yr old had quite bad reflux bt also never botherd him... i need help... what can i do?

Was there an underlying reason for 2yo's reflux? Ie a food you ate? If so remove it from your diet?

They say that babys have to cry for at least 3 hrs a day, 3 days a week, 3 weeks in a row for it to be considered colic. Or something like that. I had a screamer who did my head in but never even came close to that. Can't imagine how people survive it.
Have you ruled out reflux? The crying over spilt milk website is a good one to look at and has some ideas to try. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

DD was a very windy baby I adjusted my diet and use colimed and gripe water they seemed to help.

DD has colic, it's darn hard work....and exhausting! She is formula fed and on a colic formula and that has helped. Lots of good tips on that web site, we also find that raisin her crib slightly seems to give her some relief. She likes to be upright when she is having an 'episode' maybe you could try that. mmm our girl had colic for only 3 weeks and reflux. difference was with colic it would be crying unconsolably for a good 2-3 hours always in the evening - started as rounf 11pm - 2am or 4am, then around 9pm till midnite. the reflux classic symptoms are back arching and stiff legs after feeds, and looking generally uncomfortable. if it is just after feeds then sounds to me like reflux, if a long episode at nite then will be colic. i'm no dr tho, only going by wot happened with our girl, as she had both, so i hope that helps. the colic you cant do anything to help really unfortunately. it just eventually goes. the reflux you prob know how to sort if your 2 y/o had it, but elevating bed is awesome help, and holding upright for at least 15mins after feeds, and we did 1/2 dose of infant gaviscon (half a sachet per 110ml milk).

hunny go to the pluket center and tell them wants going on with your wee one the plunket nurses will be able to show you the clicl hold and maybe recomend to help soothe bubs james had colic and it was horrable i quite regullay cryed my way thur the day there are also med you can buy from the chemist we tried everything and nothing helped big hugs hun i hope it gets better quick for u  ------------- <a href="http://lilypie.com"><img src="http://b4.lilypie.com/nLJ5p13.png" alt="Lilypie 4th Birthday Ticker" border="0" /></a> |

A BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE!!! i took her to that doctors the day afta i posted the first because she was changeing colour all over (a reddy purple colour) and my doctor sent her straight to the hospital and they did test after test (she also had a pussy neckk at this stage and a VERY bad smell, almost like rotting meat, coming from her and a gunkky eye) including 2 swabs of her neck 2 of her eye 1 of her armipt (th pussy smelly rash spread while we were in th emergancy department) 2 attemps at a lumberpucture (both faild attempts) 3 faild attempts at a catheda and 9 attempts at an i.v (only th second was sucessful but later slipped out of her vain) and blood tests done. they stated her on i.vv antibiotics which they had to stop after th i.v slipped so they had to do intramuscular antibiotics into her tiny thighs she strted to get betta on th antibiotics but i was done with her constantly crying from being pricked time and time again with needles and not getting anywhere so i asked for oral antibiotics which they gladly gave and sent us home 4 day after we arrive.. but it turns out she had a "TOXIC BACTERIAL SKIN INFECTION" which i thought was caused by her being born in the car but it wasnt and hapens to babies that are born in hospitals... but thankfully all is better now and shes back to her smily self.
BUT A BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SHARED THIER COMMENTS AND SUPPORT... IT WONT BE FORGOTTEN!!!

ohh how terrible having to watch all those failed attempts, i saw E have about 6 failed attempts at IV line when she was in the neonatal unit and that was terrible to watch, so i can only imagine how bad it was for you.
