Totally off the parenting topic, but is there a website or something where you can see ballpark building costs for projects?
I want to put an internal wall up separating my lounge from my dining room but I need to have a vague idea of what it will cost before I get a builder in (so I know if I should rather wait and save more money up). Could you just call a builder and get a quote? Most of them will do a quote for free, and then you could let them know if you want to go ahead, or if you'll need to wait a while? -------------

I've called 2 that I know and both want to come round to the house first.
Just feels a bit like a pain in the butt when I have no idea if its going to cost a few hundred, a grand, a few grand... kwim? You'll find that most tradesmen will want to see what they have to do before they give a price. I work in the plumbing industry and none of the tradesmen I know will give a price to do anything, without going to site first. It is often very difficult to know exactly what work is involved without seeing it first -------------

| Someone correct me if im wrong but it will only be a cosmetic wall non load bearing etc so some framing and some gib sheets and a door shouldnt be too much i wouldnt have thought. Maybe someone has a hubby in building that would like a perky job ??? |
