Ok so it's probably beed asked a zillion times before (sorry if it has i have been useless in searching)...

When I was dischared after Nathan was born I was given iron tablets to take, which I dutifully did for about 3 weeks and then fizzled out. Prior to Nathan's birth I have never had iron issues at all, in fact in all previous tests I've been close to the top of the acceptable levels (as in my MW asked how much red meat we were eating, lol as it wasn't much). In the last couple of weeks I've been getting more and more and more tired, like exhausted. Summary:

- Been following a dairy free diet for two weeks
- get approx 8 hours sleep each night, fairly much uninterrupted
- Nathan sleeps through the night
- Moderate exercise (exercycle 8 ish kms every about 4 times a week)
- Knackered most of the time (got up at 9 this morning and could quite easily go back to bed now for 2 or more hours and sleep soundly but still wake up tired)

I suffer from sh*t iron! lol and when Im pregnant its really bad, ended up admitted to hospital at 36 weeks with a HB of 80(a healthy level of HB is like 120) and no stores, for an iron infusion(on a drip for 6 hours)!

Anyways! When ever my iron is low I get one or more of these symptoms -

*Tired, no energy tired!
*Dry skin on my face
*When I pull my lids down at the bottom they are almost white and not pink/red like they should be
*Heart palptaions
*Short of breath
*Craving ice lol

When I am just a bit low in it I am just tired and get a bit woozy, and sometimes dry skin. When Im severely low in it like I was at 36 weeks pregnant, I get all of those symptoms!

So it would be worth having your iron checked for sure, and make sure you get it checked before you start taking anything, as too much iron can be a bad thing, also might pay to check your B12 etc - You might just be a bit run down and need a pick me up :)

Good Luck!

Go and see your GP, we're not the experts That said, PG and being postpartum can interfere with a number of processes in your body including things like thyroid function, so your GP is the best person to look at your symptoms and arrange the appropriate tests

Definatley recommend getting some bloods done. Too much iron can have similar symptoms to low iron aswell so best to get some test done
