Hey guys. Just wondering how many bottles your baby has per day? My DD is not drinking that much - mind you, she's not fading away haha. But i find she gets sooo starving for her last bottle at 7pm, that she guzzles down 250mls.

At the moment she is on around x4 150ml bottles a day. She's also just started solids. Only around 10 teaspoons a day though. She sleeps through the night (although has woken a few times in the week seeming quite hungry).

I'm just wondering if this is enough? Today she fed at 6.45am - 200mls, then I tried feeding her at 10am but she wasn't hungry. So put her down and tried again at 11.45 and she wasn't that interested. But I persisted and she ened up guzzling down 150mls. That's all she's had and it's now 1.30pm and she's alseep.

What does your 5month old do or did? I read the tin and it said she should be on 4-5 200ml bottles per day. I know it's just a recomendation, but she doesn't drink 200ml's that often.

Am I just over worrying haha?

I've been in your situation - a child that never, ever drank anywhere close to the recommendations on the tin.

He's a tiny wee thing, but he did ok. I worried myself silly over it, but it didn't change anything and right now he's 2 and a half and driving me nuts in all new ways. :)

And I've come across just as many, if not more, people who say their baby drinks way less than the tins say, than those who say their babies do.

Just keep an eye on her weight gain, and if it starts to drop off, you might want to ease off on the solids for a bit longer. Chances are she's just fine though.

My plunket nurse told me they put higher amounts on the tins than the baby really needs so that people have to buy more formula. I always found that he didn't need as much as they say. My boy's on neocate now so I give him the set amount on there and that's 180ml up until 7 months. So I think between 150 and 200ml is probably ok. Most formula tins do say your baby may need more or less bottles depending on appetite.

My boy is the same too, I offer him a bottle every 4 hours but sometimes he doesn't want it when I think he should be hungry, so I just try again later. He's eating solid meals too and he doesn't seem hungry so Im not too worried, he gets 4 bottles a day and one in the night if he wakes but Im starting to phase that out.

So it sounds just fine to me
