Hi there

I'm new to all this! I came off the contraceptive pill in Feb and have started trying for a bubby this month.

I have only had a very slight period since February and that was for a few days, nearly 8 weeks ago.

If I don't get a period does that mean I am not ovulating?

Baby dust for everyone!

Thank you :)

Actually I've been wondering this myself. I have PCOS and often go a few months without a period I assume you only ovulate once per AF but I'm not sure. Will be watching this with interest

Yes you can have a period with no ovulation but not vice versa.

I had the usual two day "period" after I came off the pill at the start of March and it was 6 weeks before I had what I would call a proper period (and now in the two week wait).

Maybe a trip to the docs is in order if you've still not had your period and are not pregnant? I don't know how long it should take for a cycle to return to normal after coming off the pill. I was on mine for 5 years and regularly skipped periods altogether.

I haven't had AF back yet but am pretty sure I have ovulated as have had several positive Ovulation tests and all the ovulation signs and pain I usually would.

No period means no ov, but you can have super long periods. Mine range 35 days to a few months (but I have PCOS and don't ov, have ov'd only a few times).

Good luck, still early days since coming off the pill so hopefully from now on your body plays its part :)

I have pcos and only found this out after coming off the pill (was on it for 7/8 years). I would get my period, but it was very light and only lasted 3-5 days - and only came every 40ish days. The specialist confirmed i was not ovulating at all, but still getting a light period because my body was 'giving up' on the cycle for that month. I am so glad that i got all the bloods done and went to see the specialist because there's no way i would have gotten pregnant without the help of the drug clomid, which induces ovulation.

Interesting. I don't know how I got so lucky, but last year I only had 2 or 3 periods all year - and got UTD in June (with no ovulation monitoring) after a very strange period before that.

How does that work? I must have just been lucky.

I've just finished BFing :( So waiting for period to come back and hoping it is more 'regular' than before getting pregnant as my family is not complete yet.

Hi operationbabyville,

Interested to hear how you are getting on as I am in the same boat you were. Stopped taking the pill in February, AF arrived in June and now nothing and it's almost August.
