Hi there
Thanks for reading my message!

I am in the second year of my two-year Diploma in Childbirth Education course. One of the requirements is being a support in at least three births (preferably with one a home birth). I have been lucky enough to be at two births (one of whom I met on here) and am seeking a third.

What happens? Well, I would meet with you (and your partner if applicable) and take it from there. I stress that I am not there to be your LMC/midwife but can do what you want me to do: back massage, pack bag, get drinks, keep your partner awake! etc.

I realise this is not everyones cup of tea but on such a huge forum who knows! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Many thanks - PT

Hi where in the country are you? Am open to the idea of this and am having a home birth but may not be anywhere near you.

Hi there
Thanks for your replies...

Should have mentioned that I am in Auckland...am happy to travel to 1hr (or more) out. I was in Tauranga for one birth and came back to Auckland for it, so very negotiable!!!

Thanks :-)

How about c/section births?

When do you need to do these by? I'm not due till Nov - I'm a big fan of letting people 'have a go' when they're learning (with supervision of course)

I will discuss with DH & the midwife if its not too late... I'll have a hospital birth - but as drug free as I can make it!

Hi Fallen & Crazycass (and any others!)

C-section births are fine if there is labour involved but not if it is an elective c-section. While I would love to see a c-section birth, people are generally only allowed one support person (although sometimes CBEs can 'get in' as a student, with the LMCs support). Hope that makes sense.

November would be fine. I have until December...so have a chat with 'your people' and let me know if you have any questions etc!

Many thanks :-)
