DS has started a disturbing habit of not pooing for a couple of days then unleashing a side to side front to back nappy filler. Barely contained in a disposable (which, fortunatly, all of them have been so far) what chance does a cloth nappy have? Should i be afraid or are the mighty ittis up to the task?

I've found cloth actually contains it better lol, sposies are the only ones that K had poo go up her back in. She would go up to a week without a poo (this was the liquid BF stuff) then really FILL the nappy.

I find i only have poo-splosions in disposables, and not cloth. Ive had the odd leak - down the side of a leg for some of her nappies that dont fit as well (no chub thighs at all) but thats it.

And then i use flushable liners, so its nowhere near as much mess on the cloth to clean up either, as most is caught and down the loo it goes!

DD used to go up to a week between poos too - such fun! But the itti's did the job fine. We had maybe one or two minor leaks but they were from colosal poos that had filled the nappy to the absolute brim. They were/are a very good fit on her though.

I kinda liked that I only had to clean one pooey nappy a week though

Oh good! Thats fantastic news, i've been putting his nappy on with fear wondering if THIS will be the nappy that collects. He has fat fat legs so they fit snug, i'll carry on with confidence then

Hope the Ittis do the job of containing! I found disposables were no better than cloth for containing massive poos as well.

I had a 'once a week' poo-er as well for a while - all cloth nappies here - no problems EVER. We were mostly using fitteds & covers though - one reason I prefer them - poo-explosion proof! Although even her fitted nappies did cope.

And so agree with T-rex, 1 a week to clean up or even 1 every few days is awesome. Even if it does go everywhere lol. Much better than Ks current 1-3 a day

Whitewave interesting you say the sposies were no better. The mega poo is blowing out the side of the huggies poo skirt sometimes so i thought an itti would have NO chance. If they're even then i'll take the pretty fluffy nappy first thanks

I used to use disposables when we'd go out for a day or overnight because I thought that it would be easier, especially in terms of the washing. After going out one day and having 2 massive poo explosions from the back and sides of disposable nappies I vowed never to worry about carrying around the cloth nappies...it's much easier than having to totally change DS' clothes twice and mine as he leaked all over my lap!! We have only had a leak from cloth once and it was likely due to wearing an itti that was slightly too large in the rise and getting loose around the legs as it moved down his waist with movement.
I reckon the fit of a cloth nappy beats a disposable hands down and if you've got it right poo leaks are unlikely!

I've definitely found cloth better at containment too - was using disposables at night/out, but have now pretty much stopped cos it wasn't worth it anyway with the cleanups (except possibly for the dryness feeling but we're working on that).

Ooo i was checking in to see if the explosion has happened yet and how it went.

Then i realised how sad that was...

In anticipation of ANOTHER childs poo? WOAH being a mum is too much sometimes huh?

Hahaha, i never ever ever thought i'd be having this conversation. Everyone told me when you have a baby all you talk is breasts and poo but i was like pssh i'll never be like that, yet here i am.

It happened in the night, he was in a disposable and he had poo to his chin and down to his knees and when i lifted his ankles he was DRIPPING. It was amazing. I am not sure where he'd been keeping all of that but - WOW. He was in cloth when i put him back and he followed on with another similiar amount and it was making a move to escape out the legs but didnt. Hurrah!

Oh - Spacette - i had a thing with dryness a while back and microfleece seemed to be the consensus for a fix.
