Yes, Emz, they do have some special deals. Though I understand neither store is the greatest for range, but maybe you still want to check it out?

Whats the deal with the cards anyway, how do you get one? Those sales annoy the heck out of me, i see the signs go in, shop away THEN notice the fine print about the cardholders...

They are a form of credit card. You can apply online/over phone or instore on the day. They are great if you sign up to the rewards thing, cause every dollar you spend you get 1 point, and once you reach 2000 you get a $20 voucher. You can use it at all the supermarkets/petrol stores. I use mine then pay it as soon as I get home!

i never knew about the points, is that a new thing??
i've seen people at the sales use their farmers card, then pull out their eftpos card and ask to pay off the balance of their farmers card!!
i have mine set up as a direct debit so the full amount automatically goes out every month

Its an extra thing, you pay like $20 a year, have a look on the website, its called farmers rewards (i think). I reckon its totally worth it if you use it for your shopping/groceries as long as you pay it off straight away.

Easy as to sign up for the card on the day of the sale, I did it lasst one (apparently easier than doing it any other day) - just remember your two forms of ID!

I plan to go in and do a bit of a shop - hoefully Northlands has re-opened by then - and then pay it off immediately.

ETA: Just saw this on the Farmers FB about Chch opening hours etc...

The trading hours for all Christchurch stores have been reviewed, taking into
consideration the wellbeing of our team members and the many things they have
to deal with each day, before and after work. As a result the decision has been made
to change our trading hours and open at 10.00am and close at 5.00pm seven days a
week
. and this will be advertised and ticketing will be placed in each store advising of
this change. These hours apply until further notice.

We are on track to open the Northlands store before the end of this week.

I know - not very good for me who is trying to NOT spend money LOL... but having said that we need some new stuff for our cruise (its in winter time but will need summer stuff) so might have to spend some of that money!
