We just had our PAFT lady here and we were talking about bottles and how much they should be having now DS is 1 and if I should be weaning him off formula on to milk. She mentioned that I could mix say half formula and half milk just so DS gets the taste of the milk but over a gradual period. Can you do this with formula - I thought it was a no no to mix it?

Yep pretty sure you can Lisette

ETA: just make half a bottle of formula and then top it up with milk

Yeah I think the no no is making up formula WITH breast milk (rather than water), not the actual mixing of the 2.

no probs with mixing it, as long as you use the normal water/scoop ratio for the formula and add the milk to it.
Sounds very sensible to me

Just a heads up, I worked it out and the cost of the Nurture toddler formula vs the cost of milk per litre it actually works out cheaper using the formula.

I am sticking to that for now as Riley only has 2 bottles a day now anyway, he has 250mls in the morning and we are lucky if he drinks 150 in the evening before bed so we are only needing one tin every fortnight now. He gets water or watered down juice during the day for thirst.

He's 1 so I'd put cow's milk in things like his breakfast or milo drinks, formula in his bottles (but reduce the amount of bottles), and water for standard (ie thirst) drinking.

We are doing what Tray is doing but I'm pretty sure our formula is lasting for about 3weeks or more. Quin's having 200ml in the morning and 200ml at night!! Good luck hun

You can mix breastmilk with formula as well, so long as you make the formula up first then add the breastmilk, not make the formula up with breastmilk. Can mix different formulas as well to wean from one to the other. Again as long as you make them up seperately and then add together, this is how we weaned the oldest onto neocate (was the advise of nutricia to do it that way)

I did that with both of mine. Just made up half a bottle of formula then topped it up with milk. Worked well.
